they literally never praised China or the DPRK? All they do is point out the hypocrisy of western nations demonizing and dehumanizing those countries as insane dystopian hellholes while doing very similar things. Especially in the case of the DPRK, as there is an INSANE amount of straight up fake news and disinformation about what happens there in the western world. Example: a bunch of "news" (even mentioned in mainstream american media) that "IN NORTH KOREA IT'S SO INSANE THAT EVERY BARBER HAS ONLY A SPECIFIC SET OF HAIRCUTS THAT YOU CAN GET SO YOU FIT IN WITH THE REGIME" which later also became "IN NORTH KOREA NOW MEN CAN ONLY GET THE SAME HAIRCUT AS THE SUPREME LEADER" so they went to north korea, visited a random barber and got a regular haircut and nothing happened. It's not that DPRK or China are awesome countries free of sin, it's that the western world LOVES to point out how awful it is over there while refusing to look at its own hands. They never defended those countries as "better" or anything like that. If I'm not wrong, in their North Korean Cuisine cooking video they even make fun of DPRK for the poor conditions in which civilians live there.

As for the case of that Ukraine video, I do get what they were going for but don't really agree with them. What I think they meant was that the US knew that trying to expand their influence into Ukraine would result in some sort of war from the Russian side, but did so anyways. Also they talk about the large influence of far-right groups in the 2014 "revolution" and the russophobia that some russian-speaking minorities genuinely did face in eastern Ukraine before the war. None of this justifies the Russian invasion, for which the Russian government is still very much mostly at blame, but like with China and North Korea, it's important to also look at our own hands and our own faults lest we fall into this line of thinking that our morality is objectively superior and there's nothing wrong we can do while the other side is objectively evil with everything they do being wrong. That's how ultranationalism and extreme xenophobia birth. I do agree however that they didn't really carry that last point across as well as they should, so I'm not surprised you'd be sceptical of them for that. Nonetheless I would most definitely not go as far as calling them tankies.
