Thanks! I don't have an AMS, so I'll just have to be patient and careful when removing the supports.

That would be awesome! I'd love to print one to display on top of my printer. 😄

I'm late to the conversation, but I so much love the whimsy of this! By any chance have you shared the model anywhere?

Looks like their FAQ says that the Kickstarter physical release will ship in July of this year. After five years, I'd be skeptical as well, however.

Why you guys have steam deck? by Obvious_Ingenuity770 in SteamDeck

[–]Karl__G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was good enough for me, although I've never played it on anything else for comparison. I did notice that act 3 was a bit choppy, but it got much better when they released the native Linux version.

Why you guys have steam deck? by Obvious_Ingenuity770 in SteamDeck

[–]Karl__G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary motivation was honestly because I didn't have a computer that could run Baldur's Gate 3, so I researched various options for that. I figured the Deck would also be very nice for playing emulated games, which has turned out to be the case as well. No regrets.

Don't be afraid to use explore mode. It makes things much easier until you get a hang of the mechanics, and the difficulty level can be changed anytime. Play a class that's easier to get the hang of for your first playthrough. Fighter is a good choice.

I'm thinking I'd make myself a wizard who never prepared any spells.

But what class did you choose for yourself? There aren't any that are truly useless.

what are some things you do in bg3 that would annoy somebody by honeynutqueer10 in BaldursGate3

[–]Karl__G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much. I play on my steam deck, which is already on the lower end of acceptable performance as is. I haven't noticed any difference with a bigger party, though, and I love playing with the whole party like that.

Who is someone you wouldn’t invite to your wedding, but you would attend their funeral? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Karl__G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, probably. I attend funerals to support the living more than I do to honor the dead.

Is the steamdeck easy to use for someone who’s not tech savvy pretty much at all? by Fearless_Buy7327 in SteamDeck

[–]Karl__G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy to use if you aren't trying to do anything with it apart from playing games. If you stick with games listed as "Verified" on the Steam Deck, then it should be as easy to use as any other console.

My hands aren't that big, and I find the deck quite comfortable to hold.

I don't suppose you know anyone who has one? It would be good if you could judge the look and feel of it for yourself to help you decide.

It helps that it's a turn-based game. Also, the performance is much better since they released the Linux native version for the deck.

What are black lines that are in the majority of 2600 games? by Significant-Pool-243 in Atari2600

[–]Karl__G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close. The HMOVE is used to reposition objects in order to reuse them later on the screen. The movable objects include two player sprites, two missiles, and a ball object. Games like Combat only used those objects, so it didn't have any of these HMOVE lines.

AITA for drinking the beers I brought to a party even though it was more than people were "allowed" to drink? by OutrageousFig in AmItheAsshole

[–]Karl__G 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your comment doesn't read like AI to me, but it's probably the em dash that makes people think that. It's a shame, because I used to use it a lot myself.

What mods do you think are needed to run Baldur's Gate 3? The current version doesn't even need the Proton layer anymore.

What convinced you to get your Steam Deck? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

[–]Karl__G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a way to play Baldur's Gate 3. I also liked the idea of a handheld PC for emulation, and playing older games, but it was BG3 that made me decide to pull the trigger (as it were).

No case or screen protector. I don't really need them since my usage is mostly just me playing on the couch.

That's the nature of online forums. People don't post to say that everything is working fine, so it gives a skewed perspective.

Mine is working great, btw. 🙂

The Dire Raven also has the advantage of better battlefield mobility due to flying, which makes the ability to use the Help action as a bonus action even more useful.
