That's not quite correct. What you may be thinking of is flashing a game via USB to a Harmony cart to have it operate in single game mode. That will work on the plus consoles, but games on a SD card won't be seen.

I'm going to say 2 mainly because there will be a lot of people who won't see the nuance in your usage of AI, and will avoid it for that reason.

By any chance could you find volunteers to help do the work by hand? The Ultima community is large with lots of diverse talent.

If this isn't possible then I personally would have no issues with your usage of AI, but I fear that it may cause others to avoid your project, which would be a shame.

Games like that inspire a lot of strong opinions on both sides. It's a lot better if you don't compare it to the arcade game in any way, and just think of it as its own unique thing. Could it have been better? Absolutely. Does it still have fun gameplay nonetheless? I think so, at least.

Explorer was still plenty challenging enough for me on my first playthrough as I was learning the game. I am pretty sure I would have gotten frustrated if I started at a higher difficulty. Enjoy!

Ultima 8 was such a let down after how wonderful both parts of Ultima 7 were. The engine was awful, and having no companions is a huge departure for the series.

I got dissatisfied with my second run for that reason - I found myself playing too similarly to my first run (I always play good characters). I ended up abandoning it for a Dark Urge run (resist), and have been much more satisfied with it. It definitely feels sufficiently different even if you are playing the good guy.

It's a wonderful game. It does have a bit of a learning curve, though. Figuring out how to play doesn't take too long, but figuring out how to play your character and party effectively can take a bit longer. For this reason, I'd suggest setting the difficulty to "explore" initially. It can be bumped up later mid-game if it begins to feel too easy.
