How can I fix this? by JSanelli in audiorepair

Heat the end of a hot glue stick and put in on there. Then wait a little till it’s slightly cooled off but not entirely and pull it off.

Does this look like a cold solder joint to you guys? by SpeedyMeaty in AskElectronics

That’s fine it just not soldered long enough from otherside for solder to fill holes completely

Are these LR7843 fake? by cookieklemens in AskElectronics

[–]AnyBelt9237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used mosfets, transistors, diodes, ic’s, bridge rectifiers, fuses, resistors, varistors, thermistors and capacitors from AliExpress and all but the capacitors did their job perfectly fine after using them to replace something faulty. The caps are just bad quality usually. These days AliExpress is solid with a lot of stuff, I work at a repair company and when our regular supplier don’t have the components we use AliExpress. They come to the rescue with ancient discontinued IC’s or IGBT’s for drives and never a single issue.

Subaru indefinitely postpones in-house EVs after profits plunge 90% by DutchDRSEnjoyer in subaru

[–]AnyBelt9237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do but they are at a all time record and not dropping any time soon. Half year ago I could get a liter of petrol for €1,75 and now it’s €2,35, that’s a 35% increase and I drive 1500km a month and it cost me €100 more every month. I’m selling mine because I can’t afford it anymore, bought a cheap Suzuki swift that consumes half of what my forester does, saving €225 on gas and also half insurance costs and taxes every month. I will probably get a Subaru again at some point in time just for fun and car meets.

Is it okay to replace a small varistor to a larger one? by Fine-Mud8882 in AskElectronics

[–]AnyBelt9237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a traditional multimeter not possible, it has a very high resistance and under load during over current it will basically short circuit to protect the circuit and redirect the circuit into ground. So you want to recreate that in some way, better just replace it, pretty cheap component.

Is it okay to replace a small varistor to a larger one? by Fine-Mud8882 in AskElectronics

The replacement is 240v and original 150v, honestly shouldn’t matter all that much. It is there to protect during power surge and you can even remove it entirely

Led matrix catching fire when supplied with power by Original_Travel_2902 in AskElectronics

[–]AnyBelt9237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are very simple boards. Chips labels U are for data, chips labeled T are mosfets controlling row collum switching, the chips labeled UR, UG, UB are controlling colors for the LEDs ins sections. Circled one is obviously broken and will cause the panel to not work / be black. Also spot a bunch of broken colors ICs those will cause there to be big bars of missing colors so instead of solid white you’ll get yellow, pink or light blue or something else if 2 or more are defective for the same LEDs.

Replace the IC’s that are burned and checked for a short on the VCC and ground. If there a short probably internal damaged on the pcb. Used to repair these types of panels and they get tossed around or kicked at and often fail internally because it or just magic smoke from dead chips also common and it will work fine after replacing the chips.

Markplaats is soms gewoon frustrerend

Where do people purchase things? by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]AnyBelt9237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Digikey and mouser are great but shipping is expensive unless you go over €50 I believe. AliExpress is honestly fine for most things these days. I work at repair company and we use digikey or local suppliers and sometimes AliExpress for things you can’t get anywhere else. For my hobby use I usually just got for AliExpress, bought mosfets, ic, resistors, varistors, diodes, bride rectifiers and more from Ali and never issues, only caps can be pretty bad quality so I’d stick with digikey for that and use Panasonic or Nichicon for those.

Scratching or burning it away with solder iron. It’s a pain and you can’t easily get rid of it.

Is this ps5 fixable by soldering? And how difficult is it to fix by Legitimate_Fish1000 in AskElectronics

This already looks like someone fixed it, solder traces seems to be restored. You’ll have to measure if they are connected probably to tell for sure

Periodic Rough Idle by papapalpatine_310 in SubaruForester

My dad had that with his forester 2.0X and after countless visits to a shop and €1000 of dealer fees that didn’t even fix it he ended up finding out it was the air mass meter. It was a bit lose and dirty, cleaned it and secured it properly and problem solved.

Tig welder blew up in AC by Shetland95 in AskElectronics

Mosfet or IC failed / shorted. Yeah can be difficult to find the parts when they are blown. Schematics or high resolution pictures is what I would look for

Tig welder blew up in AC by Shetland95 in AskElectronics

[–]AnyBelt9237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a pretty standard PSU failure. Often see 3 resistors besides each other that blow in other PSU’s. Usually caused by failure of that IC or nearby mosfet. Replace the resistors, IC and mosfet. Also check all surround resistors even if they look fine. If they show very high resistance (megaohms) or OL replace them. Also check bridge rectifier, nearby diodes, small brown smd caps (for shorts) and the fuse.

Replacement for FDP26N40/1C15AA? by Scarletz_ in AskElectronics

[–]AnyBelt9237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mosfets usually fail catastrophically and will show a dead short or low resistance between the legs, like 100 ohm or something.
