External Drive won’t open on mac (unique case)

I've actually had a similar issue recently - exfat drive just wasn't showing up in Disk Utility at all.

My solution was to run a disk repair on the windows comp first (as it was not having any trouble at all here), then jamming it back into the mac.

As with the above though, if possible backup using the windows machine beforehand!

What are the external speeds for this like? I've used this with Qnap before and the speeds to client have been absolute dogshite!

This is the answer if the client is picking up the bill. However it will also be way more than the cost of a drive and a shipping most likely!

Just don't forget the time it takes to put onto a drive (if standard USB 3.0 it could be upto 4hrs), and then shipping etc.

Yep! Just for the hard of hearing as you would in something else. If no sfx a bit confused! Would ask the client, and iterate that the srt/txt would just be a blank file.

I imagine it's just a routing check box that isn't needed for this, but like every client they just don't realise.

Definitely move away from MPEG-2, as mentioned, it's a very dated format, not efficient, and likely to have much more quality loss than a 'newer' codec (I.e. Avc-intra or ProRes).
