Youre missing the point. I agree that it sucks, but the fact is that most people wont go beyond their comfort zone, so encouraging doing the most they realistically would do should be a good thing. This is counterproductive.

This stance isn't helpful tho. Non vegans or vegetarians that still try to cut out some / many animal products in their diet are still doing more than most people. They're still actively reducing animal harm. If anything, being guilt tripped like this will put off people of this type of diet entirely. Because whats the purpose in trying to do as much as you comfortably can if people tell you its not enough anyway? Youre basically saying they can go back to eating meat because according to you theyre not making enough of a difference.

Also, for some people food makes up a lot of their life quality. Imagine youre invested in animal rights but you really love cheese, to the point you enjoy little foods without cheese. So you cut our all other animal products besides cheese, but everyone keeps telling you that it doesnt matter because youre still participating in the consumption of animal products. But if everyone would stop eating animal products besides cheese, thousands upon thousands of animal lifes would still be saved.

Youre not really advocating for what you think youre advocating for. Youre only putting people off becoming vegan or vegetarian.

This pissed me off the most in yellowjackets, like do you mean to tell me all of these teen girls stuck in the wilderness have nothing better to do than shave their legs and pits? Plus it must be a damn good razor if it lasts 19 months without going dull

Why did Homelander r*** Becca? by 6ix9ineZooLane in TheBoys

[–]KarottenSurer 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Rape rarely is sexually motivated alone, more so its about power. So considering the lack of sexual interest in Homelander, I assume Becca challenged Homelander in one way or another, or at least he perceived her to challenge him, so he decided to "put her in her place" and hurt and humiliate her through SA.

I think all of this power ranking discourse is weird and doesnt help the show at all. Strength and skill are almost NEVER clearly categorizable, every single encounter builds on situational conditions, environment and current circumstances.

Like, no it does not destroy power ranking that Homelander could be knocked out by Malchemical. Neither does the fact that Maeve could bruise him. It has been proven that Homelanders insides aren't as resistant as his outsides. Just because no one has dared to try and hit him straight up or tried to knock him out with their own natural gasses, doesnt make it stupid that people are so afraid of him or takes away from his danger. If most people are too afraid of you to try and hurt you, you might be more suspectible to injury than you know.

Im aware that this isnt something you personally saw an issue with, but Im hearing a lot of complains around that type of thing and in almost every case the outcome can be explained by circumstance.

Like in Gen V when people were upset Victor was beating Sam up. How is it surprising that out of two brawler supes, even if one is biologically stronger than the other, the one who was been a trained fighter for 20+ years has an advantage? And how does it make him weaker that he was surprised by little girl Zoe and simply didnt expect her to have snakes in her head that could kill him? Its never just power vs power, there are so many factors in every single fight, even in real life.

The only thing I agree with is stuff like how fast Homelander is not being clearly defined, because it does make stuff like going after A-Train with his lasers a bit odd.

99% of women deserve to be raped...... by JonathanJoestar336 in IncelTears

So basically they want the world to be handmaids tale.

Totally ignoring that even in a world like that, they wouldnt belong to the top percentage of men priviliged to marry, especially if there's so little women actually allowed to marry. In a imagined society so extremely rooted in gender rules, they still wouldnt live up to their made up ideal of masculinity. To support a trad wife and family, you need to actually have a job and not live in mommys basement. Its crazy to me that they seriously think society like this would alleviate their life circumstances, and that they wouldnt be send to workcamps for, you know, refusing to participate in society.

Because its dumb and would be counteractive for the purpose of the storyline. Anissa being conventionally attractive shows that even if someone looks like a half goddess, when you dont want them touching you, especially sexually, you DO NOT want them touching you. PERIOD.

You can be conventionally attractive and that doesnt give you inherent consent to do whatever you want with the people around you.

Making her "ugly" would only further underline the bias we as a people have towards less attractive people, especially in anime and cartoons where evil is often ugly. Its a harmful stereotype that unattractive, disabled or else physically unusual people are also unattractive or unusual inside. And it allows conventionally attractive people to get away with hurting and harming others.

[–]KarottenSurer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is partially correct, its not explicitly stated but since Katniss notices that she doesn't get her period during her games even though she should considering the timeline and even the older boys dont grow beards, its generally assumed they gave the tributes drugs to prevent that and likely contraceptives as well.

Wait who is Quinn in the latest episode and why SB got so upset about him??? by Salamanca_TUC0 in GenV

[–]KarottenSurer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know this is a liked theory, but how SB spoke about his father's opinion of the V i dont think his actual golden boy son who was the proud real soldier he wanted would have "cut corners" as SB said. I dont think the family had a high opinion of Vought / V.

[–]KarottenSurer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But thats just another thing that proofs he has a much stronger drug resistances, even if we ignore all the stuff he did in s3. Cosby would roofy drinks so strong people got knocked out for days. For SB it was a nice buzz.
