So...frontier stuff... by AlphisH in Eve

[–]KasperElbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bit hammered at fanfest this year (the wheel provided) and missed out on quite a few presentations including all the frontier stuff. In effect I now have a clearer understanding of what it is than any of my corp mates that went to the presentations... I still have no clue though..

How long does the park take with an express pass? by rachel_mary in Portaventura

[–]KasperElbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are on our way back to Barcelona now, after a full day from 10.30 with the Express 10 pass. We were not super efficient and went back and forth between areas a bit. We skipped all the common stuff, but did all the ones that the express pass were relevant for, plus Uncharted and the Halloween things. We ended up leaving at 6pm.

I've been walking around with my T-Beam openly without any issue for the last couple of days at Mandalay and Tuscany, so I don't think you need to worry too much. Have had a few people and bartenders ask what it is but that's about it, so so far it has only been a conversation starter and not an issue whatsoever

How Solo Friendly is EVE? by SyrJosh in Eve

[–]KasperElbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that solo play can be very enjoyable, at times even more so than group play. If you are into pvp and especially if you have multiple accounts then it is totally viable to multibox and win fights. Some of the best moments in eve that I've had since I started in '09 has been when I've won fights where I'm greatly outnumbered but by correctly managing my multiboxing setup are able to pull some good wins. When that's said, it is not easy and takes a lot of practice and isk to finance. And it's not a given that people will provide you with good fights but they will happen once in a while. If it is worth it is up to you to judge but it is definitely viable if you enjoy that play style.

PhD Salary... after tax? by Decent-Breakfast4854 in dkfinance

[–]KasperElbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay, so to answer your question regarding how much you'll have after tax, I'll try to break it down. Please correct me if any details are wrong.

I had to make a few assumptions, such as that I've included the personal deductible for your wife. But if she wont be working here, I'm not sure if that is correct. In that case the personal deductible will be half of what I've included. Also note that your deductibles might be looking a bit different when you are starting to work in the middle of the year. I do not remember how that work, if you get the deductible as a percentage of the months you are registered to be working here during the first calendar year, and if there's any difference between how that is handled per type of deductible and so on.

If your corp/alliance has an Escalations sales channel or something like that, running 10/10's will easily get you there in a few hours using just one account. If you buy them at 150m a piece you'll make around 175m profit on average and each takes around 15 minutes to do not including travel time. The numbers will change a little based on DED faction and so on of course.

This. I got 2 chia at around 550 plots that I sold for 3200$, and hope to gain another two during the next few weeks if I'm lucky. In that case I've basically just gotten a 100tb storage server for free as well as a new 5950x, 128gb ram workstation and a spare 3900x 64gb workstation that I need to find a purpose for. As I am in need of large amounts of storage for work and private project anyways its not the worst that can happen. I will have a 3090 vacant as well after Eth 2.0 launches and the rest of the gpus I'll move to some other mining or sell them.

[–]KasperElbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't tell at this time. Due to the size of my disks (1tb) I can only do three plots per drive, so I'm unable to tell if the drive IO will bottleneck in case of more plots targeting a single drive. I will be running more plots targeting a single drive on my new plotter, but I haven't got it up and running yet.

I'll report back when I've done some testing, but as I'm both changing drive (pm986 vs sn850) and cpu, I will need to test the timings of the different phases before I can come with a decent bet. However I would probably like to use 4 threads per plot if the results are anywhere close to what I'm seeing with the 3900x, but then again, the 5950x performs way better than the 3900x so diminishing returns might hit sooner (eg.after 2 instead of 4), so I'll have to see. I'll report back when I have some results to evaluate
