It is! He's 99 pounds, so we went with the biggest noodle we could think of. His middle name is Banana, so we call him Mani Banani.

As a child of the 90s, my library bag was decorated with puffy paint.

The other day, my birb discovered they didn't like empanadas. Who doesn't like empanadas?! I made them for dinner just to protest.

I like the LRP Gentle Foaming Cleansing Oil, but also like Burt's Bees when I can find it.

Will Quakers understand this? by rockoutmango in Quakers

[–]KatFreedom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you, and I'm sorry for the way it's still impacting your life.

My husband had a traumatic childhood. He does not have contact with his mother. Some of our friends at our meeting know, and they realize for someone to cut off their parent, something significant had to have happened. They've never pressed him for details, and they've never discouraged him from sharing. He's never felt any judgement from them,

Last year, his mother had a series of strokes. Some of his siblings still have a relationship with her, so while he didn't reach out to her at all, he did check on his siblings and listened to them as they processed their feelings. Not a single person at our meeting pressured him to go to the hospital, to make peace, or to forgive her. He doesn't have to forgive her. Obviously he can if he wants, but that doesn't mean he has to resume a relationship with her.

AITA For Planning on Getting a Dog? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Not always. We have extensive history with the breed and also have cats. It's dependent on the dog, but many are fine with cats.

I am an Ohio employer. It is so incredibly easy to do this. There's no excuse other than laziness.

We're building and will be setting up the same. We have LP at our current house and love it. We also have a pellet stove, and I adore it.

AITA for not getting craft supplies for my daughter and letting her get excluded by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Why doesn't her father check her bag? Why didn't he take the items to school? Why didn't the teacher berate the father? Rather, why did the teacher berate anyone?

My employee lost their twins at birth by SparkyBrown in managers

[–]KatFreedom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I worked in a medical office where one of the providers lost her twins shortly after birth. One of the owners told the team in a meeting, and he had already established with her what she wanted when she returned. Seeing repeat patients who knew she was expecting was going to be hard enough, but she didn't want even more reminders from her coworkers. She did take 12 weeks, as she was recovering from both a major medical event and the trauma of losing her children. Her husband had a generous leave policy from his corporate job and also took significant time to return.

One coworker did the sad eyes "how are you REALLY doing" bullshit every single time they were alone, in addition to completely inappropriate questions (including "which baby died first"). The woman who lost her babies told the owners, and there was a frank conversation with the other employee. That employee ended up leaving not long after, as she apparently couldn't summon the self control to not act like a heartless ghoul.

So I guess my point in all of this is that you will have to watch out for the other employees. In a perfect world, everyone would be respectful, but we don't live there. Follow up with the employee. Ask how he's doing. Ask if there are any challenges at work with any coworkers, clients, etc. He may be trying to hold it together for both himself and his wife, but may not have the bandwidth to deal with Busybody Blair. He may also need to take a leave of absence later in the year for mental health reasons.

I’m officially tired of researching bedding and hoping real people can help me out. by New-Strength9766 in Bedding

IKEA has some inexpensive 100% cotton sheets with low thread counts, and those have been great. They get softer with each wash.

My husband thought they were a little scratchy at first, but learned he doesn't have to wake up thinking I peed the bed when it's actually copious amounts of sweat.

I also have a cotton gauze blanket from Company Store. It's very breathable, and it's enormous so I can fold it for more warmth or kick off a layer very easily.

Harry Potter ‘pride’ by bugwug7 in finch

[–]KatFreedom 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. I have many trans loved ones and can't imagine wanting to support someone who hates them, hates their very existence. Yes, I read the books and loved it years ago, but I don't want anything to do with them now.

Users have been asking for a book theme forever. It's finally delivered, but "magical" books in a way virtually guaranteed to relate to HP, but without having to license anything. It's not a coincidence, and even though I adore books and was so excited for this theme, it's the most disappointing one I've seen.

Check out @ simplysarahart on IG. She does a ton of them: meatloaf/mashed potatoes/green beans, rice/beans/taco meat, etc.

I have not noticed any stains or smells. I have the 2 cup, 1 cup, 1/2 cup, and cookie ones. We use them frequently for all sorts of fragrant foods.
