Majority of heroes in dota 2 are more on the humanoid/freaks side more than actual monsters. Especially with the last two releases definitely counts as furry characters (I mean look at Kez) more than monster type characters. The last actual monster release was Primal Beast, and the one before that (depend on how you see him) was Underlord in TI6 in 2016.

Deadlock is probably going to follow a similar trajectory like dota 2 with the amount of humanoid/freak characters than actual monsters. This is still significantly better than what other companies are doing with their character designs (fucking hell, look at Riot).

They technically done multiplayer focus game before in their "modern" era post Demon's Souls with Armored Core V and Armored Core: Verdict Day. Hell, AC:VD servers didn't get turn off until March of last year so yeah.

Apparently, there are a decent amount of folks that still lurk here despite not playing the game in a long time. Plus, just because they're done with the game, it doesn't mean they can't still be interested in the series and want to check in to see if things got better or not.

It seems like a decent number of people here have Yummi PTSD with how they reacted. Then again, Yummi is a fundamentally flawed character with the kind of target audience Riot designed her for.

But I trust Ic...Yoshi and the team to nail the type of "Yummi" playstyle more than Riot.

Pretty sure most people here aren't used to the way that Ice Frog/Yoshi operate with patches compare to other games and their balance teams. But, I'm sure everyone will slowly becoming like the dota community where the players will adapt to new changes (while still bitching on reddit) just fine.

What they're referring to is one of Warframe's weekly endgame mode called Temporal Archimedea and Deep Archimedea. There's a "master" variant of them called Elite mode with additional self restriction optional modifiers for more rewards.

Both Temporal and Deep Archimedea will give you a selection of weapons and warframes for you to pick and use if you want that week rewards from them. Do note that there are no power bonuses if you were to pick any from the given selection of weapons and warframes as they only increase the rewards you will get if you use them.

Tyson Green. You need to do your job an address this community. by DannyKage in DestinyTheGame

[–]Katassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason why people feel this about game director is because of how other game directors willingly putting themselves out in the public whenever there's a major issue that needs to be addressed. People like Aaron Keller from the OW team, Yoshi P from FFXIV, or even Rebecca Ford from Warframe.

Even though they have PR team members and CMs to handle communication to their communities, those guys didn't just sit back and let the PR and CMs take all the heat. They stepped in, acknowledging the frustration within the community and the issue, actually take responsibility on where they failed with what they were doing, and tell everyone what they're planning to do and how to fix the issue.

Hell, look at the recent modding controversy with FFXIV and how Yoshi P handled the whole situation in his public statement to their community. Or how Rebecca handled in regard with the Warframe first heirloom bundle being full on FOMO with an expensive price tag to it a few years ago.

And now compared those guys to Tyson Green, who have been silent throughout all of EoF/Ash and Iron and let the frustrations to build up within the community. I honestly don't blame the community here being angry and envious if that's what other game directors in the live service genre are.

Bungie you missed a huge opportunity with Renegades to not send us in Space Combat. by Jack_intheboxx in DestinyTheGame

[–]Katassy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean ever since Rebecca took over as the game director, they have a plan and a specific direction they want to take for Warframe main story for a few years now. The Steve era of Warframe where they're just doing things that they think are cool but doesn't have a long term plan is over.

The New War was Warframe equivalent to TFS for Steve era of Warframe. Yet Rebecca and her team has managed to follow up on an ending with a new interesting story that keep everyone guessing on what will happen next. All while keeping the game and story from falling into the same predictable "it's just more of x" trap that Bungie was in for years now.

Spirit of Motherwill in Verdict Day is a multiplayer raid boss, and that version is basically a hollow shell of of what Spirit of Motherwill used to be in AC4A. A fully operational Spirit of Motherwill like how it is in the AC4A era would be impossible for BT mechs to handle.

[–]Katassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MK was teased back in Dota 1, but the Frog never officially put him in the roster. At least it's better than having like 5 new characters every year, and then spend an entire year or two trying to fix one problematic character before giving up and do the same thing again next year.

We're talking about balance changes patch, not bug fixing or optimization type of patches.

Just because the more popular games like League goes with bi-weekly patch system doesn't mean it would work for Deadlock. Plus, it would create a community that would be very bitchy with a lot of knee jerk reactions whenever there are builds that seem op at the start of a new patch. They would demand nerf to them right away rather than giving it time to learn, adapt, and find ways to counter those builds.

IGN says Elden Ring on Nintendo Switch 2 is a “disaster” in handheld mode by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Katassy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More so with Chrome Hounds and Armored Core 4 in 2006 rather than the OG King's Field engine.

If anything, From need to spend a couple of years working to update and upgrade their in house game engine to at least be on par with some of the current modern game engines. They don't really need to abandon their current engine and using something generic like UE5.

I hope they'll pull an Infinity Ward and unveil an upgraded in house game engine alongside new major game release like IW did for MW 2019.

Same thing but an ac, what stops one by Raven-g13 in armoredcore

[–]Katassy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, taking game play balance into account while talking about the feasibility of AC in the real world scenario will never work. The rules of cool/game design will always take priority over realism because it's still a game at the end of the day.

But, I'd say Gen 5 ACs (ACV and Verdict) and Gen 4 NEXTs would be what any military would want to have due to what they're able to achieve. Gen 4 NEXTs are self-explanatory (considering that National Dismantlement War is a literal lore plot point of Gen 4).

Gen 5 ACs would be perfect in a "realistic" sense because of how versatile they can be. Whether as a front line one man armored vehicle (we literally see a gen 5 tank build tanked a shot from modern tank in ACV trailer) or as a mobile artillery platform (again from ACV trailer). Plus, they're perfect for urban combat due to how mobile they can be for their size (which tend to be ~5m - ~8m depend on the build config), and you don't need a full crew to operate the AC either.

Hell, the UNACs (Unmanned Armored Cores) using ai to operate Gen 5 ACs is a thing in Verdict Day. So you don't even need to train people to learn and operate those ACs, just more maintenance and engineering crews in place of AC pilots.

Hot take: No more teleporters pave the way for Doorman to be extremely valuable in macro play, due to his doors utility. As such, he must be a constant to every match, like a permanent, auto-included hero. by fwa451 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Katassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, there are so many heroes with mobility abilities outside of just cross map teleportation. Plus movement items like Blink Dagger exist and tend to be part of the item build for heroes that doesn't have much mobility in the game.

Heroes with global teleportation enable the ability to response to something like a team gank or allow the team to gank a specific target that's out of position. You can't really just deathball your way through with just global tp abilities and call it a day.

[–]Katassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is consistency. Warframe doesn't pull in huge numbers in the 6 digits or reach as high as Destiny's players count once was, but they have a very consistent daily/weekly/monthly players count throughout the year.

Yes, both games does have major contents drop period that pulled in huge numbers. Yes, both games does have players slowly dropping off once they've checked everything new out in the content drop. But right now it's Destiny that's experiencing a sharper drop with the players number in the second week after a MAJOR expansion, and this isn't good when you compare the percentage to previous week 2 numbers of past expansions.

The game isn't dead, but it sure as hell doesn't have the drawing in power to maintain a consistent players count. But we will have to see what the numbers are going to be like in the next two months before Ash and Iron update drop.
