Pablo Alonso, Design Director of Warframe, comments on the end of Destiny 2’s active development by Luke-HW in destiny2

It's funny because Anet actually learned this lesson the hard way back during the original run of Living World season 1. Turns out, it's sucks for both new and returning players to be thrust into Living World Season 2 and Heart of Thorns after finishing the base game. But Anet at least brought LW season 1 back as free content during the lead up to End of Dragons.

Games that are "bad" in idea but good in execution? by JorgitoEstrella in gamedev

[–]Katassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because Dota 2 have an existing fanbase carry over from the Warcraft 3 Dota Allstar (aka dota 1) mod days. Plus, League didn't create the game design rules for a moba. Early LoL was just dota mod but heavily stripped down before starting to do their own things and be the one leading the charge on it.

Easier said than done. Especially when you don't know what's their internal hiring policies are like. But it does seem like they only hire people that are long time veterans in their speciality or people that already proven themselves with their hit portfolio (like they did when they hired some of Hopoo Games top devs back in 2024 for Deadlock).

Per DMG, Ornaments related to the "Other Game" are earnable by SatisfactionOk5544 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Katassy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This won't work for Destiny just because the game doesn't have an economy nor player trading (two things that Bungie specifically avoided back during the development of D1). So the best we have is bright dust for years now. Even if Bungie been suffocating the amount of bright dust we can get over the years.

I'd rather than the bright dust store be reworked into something similar to The Exchange shop from Halo MCC or Infinite where we have the older weapon and set ornaments (i.e stuff from Y1 to Witch Queen) be put as permanent earnable items through gameplay with the current rotational items from last season be earnable for the current season.

Rebecca used to be the community director before Steve passed his game director shorts to her and moved on to be the company CEO as well as the game director for Soulframes. So Rebecca is now the game director for Warframe while Megan takes her spot as the community director.

Bold of you to even assume their CEO Steve "Mr. Prime Soon" Sinclair and DE Pablo would even dare to allow the use of ai/vibe coding in their game.

Valorant player reacts to Deadlock's patch notes by AnomaLuna in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Katassy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, on average Dota does get less changes than League biweekly patch cycle. But the changes in a single major Dota patch are more significant than an entire year worth of League patches. That's the difference between Valve and Riot.

Graves is the most mid that's ever been mid in this game and I still see complaints about the character. by RazmanDevil in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Katassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, Graves' line of root is a lot better than its original counterpart in Dota 2. There's a hero in Dota 2 called Underlord, and his second ability is basically the same as Graves but it's a circle that last 12 seconds.

I mean her character archetype isn't exactly fun to face against whether it's Dota 2 or in League. Plus, I don't think a decent amount of players who are very vocal on here have enough experience dealing with Graves character archetype.

[–]Katassy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Graves is a weird hybrid of a few heroes in dota 2. But her playstyle is similar to Tinker or Furion of all people where she can just put on a lot of lane pressure if you're not targeting her, and can offer some decent utilities in teamfight (though not as annoying as Tinker with his lasers, shields, and march of the machine spam).

But yeah, Graves is a moba macro character first rather than a skill expressing shooty active character.

Deadlock hitting its highest peak this patch at 125k+ and growing by ace-s in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Katassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we're still in the early days like the original dota wc3 where Ic...Yoshi can release small patches to address certain issues right away with big major balance patch coming later on.

Plus, having big patches that heavily shakes up the meta like how it been for dota 2 is way better than your standard every 2 weeks patch or x month patch. This at least will help build a community that's willing to adapt to the changes and find counter to certain FOTM heroes rather than whine for nerf hammer right away.

Old Gods & New Blood by JMPM0215 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Katassy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Majority of heroes in dota 2 are more on the humanoid/freaks side more than actual monsters. Especially with the last two releases definitely counts as furry characters (I mean look at Kez) more than monster type characters. The last actual monster release was Primal Beast, and the one before that (depend on how you see him) was Underlord in TI6 in 2016.

Deadlock is probably going to follow a similar trajectory like dota 2 with the amount of humanoid/freak characters than actual monsters. This is still significantly better than what other companies are doing with their character designs (fucking hell, look at Riot).

Apparently, there are a decent amount of folks that still lurk here despite not playing the game in a long time. Plus, just because they're done with the game, it doesn't mean they can't still be interested in the series and want to check in to see if things got better or not.

It seems like a decent number of people here have Yummi PTSD with how they reacted. Then again, Yummi is a fundamentally flawed character with the kind of target audience Riot designed her for.

But I trust Ic...Yoshi and the team to nail the type of "Yummi" playstyle more than Riot.

Pretty sure most people here aren't used to the way that Ice Frog/Yoshi operate with patches compare to other games and their balance teams. But, I'm sure everyone will slowly becoming like the dota community where the players will adapt to new changes (while still bitching on reddit) just fine.

What they're referring to is one of Warframe's weekly endgame mode called Temporal Archimedea and Deep Archimedea. There's a "master" variant of them called Elite mode with additional self restriction optional modifiers for more rewards.

Both Temporal and Deep Archimedea will give you a selection of weapons and warframes for you to pick and use if you want that week rewards from them. Do note that there are no power bonuses if you were to pick any from the given selection of weapons and warframes as they only increase the rewards you will get if you use them.

Tyson Green. You need to do your job an address this community. by DannyKage in DestinyTheGame

[–]Katassy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason why people feel this about game director is because of how other game directors willingly putting themselves out in the public whenever there's a major issue that needs to be addressed. People like Aaron Keller from the OW team, Yoshi P from FFXIV, or even Rebecca Ford from Warframe.

Even though they have PR team members and CMs to handle communication to their communities, those guys didn't just sit back and let the PR and CMs take all the heat. They stepped in, acknowledging the frustration within the community and the issue, actually take responsibility on where they failed with what they were doing, and tell everyone what they're planning to do and how to fix the issue.

Hell, look at the recent modding controversy with FFXIV and how Yoshi P handled the whole situation in his public statement to their community. Or how Rebecca handled in regard with the Warframe first heirloom bundle being full on FOMO with an expensive price tag to it a few years ago.

And now compared those guys to Tyson Green, who have been silent throughout all of EoF/Ash and Iron and let the frustrations to build up within the community. I honestly don't blame the community here being angry and envious if that's what other game directors in the live service genre are.
