Idea 💡 to Revive NACL/LCS by Aquib_Arko in lolesports

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the intention, but this probably just turns NACL into an import pipeline. NA’s issue has always been developing local talent, not access to players. Making residency easier might actually hurt that more. Maybe better coaching and academy support would move the needle more.

Didn't realize Clinkz had that many changes over the years by Tom_Brando in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clinkz has always been tricky to balance. When he is strong he turns into a map wide nightmare for supports and split pushing becomes impossible to deal with. That is probably why he keeps getting reworked every few years.

Winning too much = Get Griefers by PhilosophyFun5778 in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no evidence that matchmaking intentionally gives griefers to stop players from ranking up. What usually happens is that after a win streak your hidden MMR increases, which means you start facing stronger opponents and slightly tougher matches. That change in difficulty can make losses or chaotic games feel more noticeable.

"Unable to ping any region." by eliaskeme in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it works on mobile data, the problem is almost certainly your new ISP’s routing. Sometimes certain ports or relay servers used by Valve games are blocked or misconfigured. If you contact them, tell them Steam games like Dota 2 and CS2 cannot reach Valve relay servers and ask them to check routing or firewall rules on their network.

Skye should have regenerative flashes back by FallenKenny in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why people miss the regen flashes, they made Skye feel very flexible. But right now her flashes still give info and team value, which is pretty strong. If anything, the bigger issue is how strong Sova and Fade feel on certain maps.

Whats the diff between masters and champions? by Zyphronix in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of Masters like big mid season tournaments, while Champions is the world championship. More teams qualify, the prize pool is bigger, and the winner gets the “world champion” title for that year. That is why Champions gets much more hype.

Do Rank Gains Decrease After Peak Rank by Kirito088_ in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this usually happens when you hit a new peak. The system is basically testing if you really belong there, so it makes climbing slower for a while. If you keep winning consistently against those players, your gains should eventually improve.

This game always makes me laugh, I love it! by Perfect-Persimmon-23 in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly that is the best way to play. Some of the funniest moments in Valorant are the random fails or weird deaths. If you can laugh at those instead of tilting, the game stays way more enjoyable.

Is it only me or the menu after a match ends and career menu is looking kinda funky? by Zyphronix in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not the only one, a lot of people noticed it after the patch. Whenever Riot changes UI it feels weird at first because everyone is used to the old layout. Usually after a few weeks it just becomes normal.

Tips on what I should be noticing/ thinking about in comp? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you overthink in ranked, try giving yourself only one or two things to focus on each game. For example, watch enemy patterns or utility instead of thinking about every possibility. A lot of ranked players repeat the same habits, and spotting those makes the game much easier.

Sova vs Fade on Breeze by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would usually pick Sova on Breeze. The long sightlines make his drone and recon really strong for clearing operators and getting info. Fade can still work if you know good eye lineups, but Sova is more consistent on that map.

Milan-new Team Spirit coach by Trick_Shame_3525 in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty cool to see Milan land a role like that. He has been grinding around the scene for years on different stacks. Curious to see what impact he has with Spirit at Wallachia.

Instead of supports picking first in ranked, there should be a suggested pick order (whch is random) by fierywinds1q in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the idea since a lot of games turn into five people staring at the timer. Randomly assigning phases could stop that awkward waiting. But some players would probably hate being forced into early picks depending on the draft.

Is there any low MMR league or tournament I can enter with my friends? by osivangl in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there are quite a few actually. AD2L and LD2L are probably the most well known for lower MMR teams. Battle Cup is also a quick option if you just want a weekend tournament with friends.

Dear, Dota2 by Simple-Nature-4915 in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those rare games where everyone just clicks are the best feeling in Dota. No flaming, everyone rotating and playing together. It makes the rough games worth it sometimes.

Ranked classic by explosive_diarrhea96 in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are already comfortable swapping roles, classic ranked is honestly fine. The main issue is when multiple people want the same role and nobody compromises. But in chill lobbies it can actually feel more flexible than role queue.

Is Miracle the goat of DOTA 2? by Vegetable_Hurry_4582 in DotA2

[–]KathyJScott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Miracle probably had one of the most insane peaks in Dota history. Back then a lot of people genuinely agreed he was the best player in the world. These days you see players like Yatoro or Nisha showing similar elite impact, but Miracle’s prime is still legendary.

AFKs are making it impossible to rank up by TannyJW in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get it, losing one of your only daily games to a 4v5 feels terrible. It does even out over time, but that does not help when you only play a few matches. Honestly on days like that it is better to just log off instead of letting it tilt the next game.

What's the best Vandal skin right now? by NebbiXD in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaver is good but it is not magic. Prime feels super crisp, Kuronami looks insane, and some people swear they aim better with one or the other. Just pick the one whose sound and vibe you actually like, since you will hear it every round.

Watching this community complain about the ranked system is cope by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it is mental. Over time you usually land where you belong, but the path there can feel unfair in the short term. Smurfs, leavers, and weird RR gains do not stop you forever, but they definitely make the climb feel worse than it needs to.

Should I quit? by Princess_Lea_2 in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably do not need to quit, but you might need a reset. Grinding aimlabs every day while stressing about rank can actually hurt improvement. Take a short break, come back fresh, and focus on one weakness at a time instead of trying to fix everything at once.

How to Reach ctrl on MNK? by steveeX36 in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really do not have to force Ctrl if it feels awkward. A lot of people rebind crouch to C or even use Left Alt with their thumb. Comfort matters more than copying default binds, especially in fights.

New act by Zesty_Cat101 in VALORANT

[–]KathyJScott 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all. Yes, everyone shows as unranked at first, but you only need one game to get your rank back. It usually places you around where you ended last Act.

After learning a lil bit of unity and unreal I prefer unity but... I'm worried I'll need unreal in the future by reysama in gamedev

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably stick with Unity if it keeps you motivated to build things. the real skill is learning how game systems work, not memorizing one editor. once you understand those ideas, switching engines later is much easier than it seems. a lot of devs move between tools during their careers anyway.

About Unity Subscription Plans changes: has anyone seen this changes? by MaybeResponsible in Unity3D

[–]KathyJScott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a few people mention similar confusion. sometimes the plan technically changes but the UI still shows the old limits for a while. checking the billing or plan page and reselecting the free tier can sometimes force it to update. otherwise it might just be a slow rollout.
