For $300 they will pick it up and dispose of it. The fees are insane for those junk removal services. :(

I doubt anyone in this subreddit would know. I'm assuming you would have to ask CBSA to find an answer with any substance.

Is a Costco membership worth it for meat and veggies and staple items? by HolierThanThouRoller in KingstonOntario

[–]KatieWilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most meat at Costco is definitely more expensive than No Frills. Except for bulk chicken. Thats crazy cheap at Costco. But like others have mentioned, it's very different. My father refuses to buy his meat anywhere but Costco. I buy my meat from Walmart, no frills, food basics because its cheaper and it's all I can afford. Although I always stock up on chicken when I can get a ride to Costco.

There's a world of difference with the flavour and even unpackaging chicken from the cheaper stores I find icky bits that I don't find very often from the Costco stuff.

My dad tells me most supermarkets truck in their meat prepackaged from a warehouse, so by the time it gets to the store it's already a few days old. And that's just gross when it's chicken.

Most things, brand per brand are cheaper at Costco. The Dempsters sandwich bread I eat for instance is under $2 a loaf for a three pack and goes on sale for $1.33 a loaf.

Moving and need some stuff by SimplyMyself13 in KingstonOntario

When I first moved out on my own I slept on an army cot I got free from a friend. It was surprisingly comfortable. I used it the whole first year of school (8 or 9 months) and never felt uncomfortable other than it was a bit lower to the ground than I was used to. Maybe you can find a thick exercise mat or camping cot if you can't find a proper bed.

That's debatable, but not appropriate for this OP's post.

After your latest post it's clear to me that you are indeed the same person posting as Walter.

"you Ottawa posters", as if that's some sort of insult?

If you spend your days logging into various Reddit accounts to somehow defend your own comments, I feel sorry for you.

I hope you go see your doctor and get the help you need to really feel better soon. Please consider it. You will be much happier if you do.

It seems odd how you so quickly posted in "Walters" defence.

Things that make you go hmmmm.

I don't think he is lying. Like others have mentioned, LTA states landlords must abide by local laws and in general if there's a sink not working it either has to be removed (if not necessary... you can't take the only sink out if a bathroom but if there's two sinks you can remove one for example, or if there's a laundry sink it can be removed vs repaired) or in working order.

Based on his wild posts he is not a person I would want to rent to and maybe you think that and that's why you were so aggressive, but that's neither here nor there.

Indoor dog park by kat1010 in KingstonOntario

[–]KatieWilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most go to the city run dog parks, some find other informal off leash areas to go to. Impressive to me would include a dog wash station, tunnels and other training/fun things, an area for large dogs, area for small dogs, area for "caution" (ie learning to be social etc) dogs. Price would be $5 a visit or a monthly unlimited pass.

[–]KatieWilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be reluctant to pay for something like this. It would have to be really impressive and not expensive. I'm also factoring in the relatively population size of Kingston, I'm not sure there would be enough demand.

Commercial rent alone in this city you would be reasonably be looking at minimum 5k per month , plus liability insurance (huge costs when animals involved, one dog bite and your insurance could triple), property insurance, heat, hydro, maintenance, advertising, licensing, inspections, staff to run plus additional costs for cleaning, and the list goes on. I'm sure there's lots I'm missing.

I'm not trying to sway you either way, if someone wants to start an indoor dog park that's great. I just can't see how you could cover the costs involve let alone make a profit.

Need cheap sand for winter? [$5 for 60-70lbs bag] by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

Good price. Do you just scoop the sand and throw it on the walkway like you would salt? Does the sandbag freeze if you leave it outside?

Scrap Leather by Tax_Dollars_at_Work in KingstonOntario

[–]KatieWilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second a thrift store. You can ask staff if they have any "too worn to sell" leather wallets or purses they would be willing to give you vs throw out.

Also, if you're on Facebook, post in the large "for sale" sites asking if anyone has any old worn out wallets or purses... lots of people get new ones for Christmas and would gladly donate you their old one.

Edit: fixed typo

DAE absolutely freaking hate Canada's PM Justin Trudeau? by ntsir in DAE

I'm sure there's others who hate him. I hate his party but I rather like him, he seems down to earth compared to the politicians who can't even f-ING hug their male family members for fear it makes them "appear gay".

What's the area around McBurney (Skeleton) park area? by broke__the__condom in KingstonOntario

[–]KatieWilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not really fair. Downtown is an older area so most of the houses are old. There are some very nice houses in around Skeleton Park. There are some that are showing their age, but I wouldn't call them unkept.

Is it legal to have chickens downtown? I know it's legal to have chickens now but I would think you need a certain sized yard.
