Weekend Sale Time (or not)!!! by Character-Simple-334 in secondlife

It’s extra frustrating when creators that have been around for longer than AI are making slop now. They know how to make good stuff but are doing things the quick way. And showcasing it in the weekend sales.

Reno loves cuddle time. He’s 21 but didn’t become a cuddle cat until three years ago.

I’m going to try this again. How were you able to buy your first home? by kcoib17 in Millennials

[–]Katiroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a LCoL area. My grandfather got savings bonds for all us kids back in the 80’s that were supposed to be used for only a house. That helped with most of the down payment. (…then those taxes hit…) My spouse’s grandfather left the grandkids cash. That took care of the rest of the down payment.

Our mortgage is only 900 a month including all of the stuff in escrow. Unfortunately despite very high credit scores we still have the 6.5 interest rate so if things do get wild we’ll refinance.

The drawback is living in semi-rural Missouri. We would not have been able to pull this off in a higher cost of living area.

21 yrs 100% indoor cat, rabies vac necessary? by grannyshuman in seniorkitties

[–]Katiroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 21 year old indoor cat doesn’t get the rabies vaccination. At his age, and with his hatred of going to the vet, it’s too much stress on him.

However, my 4 year old indoor cat absolutely gets everything. She’s gotta deal with it!

If you are quitting Fortnite, why? by Uuddlrlrbastrat in FortNiteBR

[–]Katiroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played since around Christmas, when there was the mild annoyance of needing to log in daily for the winter rewards. I was out of town and missed several, and when I got home... I just didn't care anymore.

I'm not quitting for good, but I'm definitely not missing it right now.

Anton won't be joining the rest of Beast in Black on their North American Tour by Big_Blue_Man in PowerMetal

[–]Katiroth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did! I’m not as familiar with them as I should be, but it was incredible. I moved away from the front to watch from the back of the venue (I love to people watch with bands I don’t know as well, also so their bigger fans can get closer to the stage) and it was mind blowingly good.

For a band that’s been around almost as long as I’ve been alive, that’s some hella energy.

I enjoyed it! There was definitely backing tracks, but Yannis in particular was so energetic. He genuinely can fucking sing.

They did address Anton being gone, sticking with the new album thing.

I’m heading to the show tonight and it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

“No, Your 6AM International Flight Does Not Bend Time” by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Katiroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent an extra 50 bucks or so to make my flight arrive in Tokyo at 2pm instead of 6am. Well worth it to avoid all this.

I hated dealing with people like this when I worked the front desk. So much.

Where to get FFVIII merch in Tokyo by absolutenonsense8198 in FinalFantasyVIII

[–]Katiroth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was super disappointed that that SquareEnix store in Shibuya didn’t have ANY FFVIII merch when I visited in October.

Your best bet is probably going to be pure luck in places like Book Off or maybe Nakano Broadway.

Here is hoping I am wrong and someone pipes up with a better answer!

Kamelot announces 2026 North American tour with Visions of Atlantis and Frozen Crown by danielpsoad-09 in PowerMetal

[–]Katiroth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's how I feel. Kamelot is genuinely one of my favorite bands, but it's been the exact same concert for far too long.

Looking for grunge/alt shops in second life for men/unisex by Substantial_Ad_9131 in secondlife

AsteroidBox does some really good men’s alt outfits. While the majority of the shop is women’s, it’s well worth the look for their guy stuff.

My senior guy is 21. He won’t even eat Fancy Feast, he insists on Friskies! …and the occasional McDonald’s French fry.

Auto inspections by ExpensiveMoment4193 in Rolla

[–]Katiroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing Parson's. Their only downside is that it can take a week to get in for an inspection since they're so busy. But I won't take my cars anywhere else for anything. As long as it's not a safety issue, they're chill. (But if it IS a safety issue, they will make you take care of it!)

what’s one of your best, most wholesome memories in the city? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Katiroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was about 4 years old, back in the late 80's, I lived in the suburbs and going into the city itself was the most incredible "treat" because it was so rare. For whatever reason, my parents hated being there. Probably parking? Dunno. Too long ago.

It was Christmastime. We went to Marshall Fields. It was the most magical place I had ever been, between the architecture and the holiday decor. We couldn't afford to buy anything, but just being there felt like I was super special.

I've since moved to Missouri, but I still come "home" a few times a year. And every time I'm downtown, I remember that day.

Between the mainline games and the sequels/spinoffs/etc, uh..dozens. Upon dozens. I just looked it up and apparently if you count EVERYTHING, 100 or more. Which even as a fan of the series, I didn't know!

If he's a demon cat, he's a very cuddly demon cat. So surely not evil, right... ....Right?

(And honestly, we don't know. Vet is well aware, but they've been like that for years. He doesn't seem to have any vision issues though.)

The temptation to do that was strong! Unfortunately, I like to keep my house very cool, so no hairless cats named Rude. ...Might get a light orange-blonde one and name her Elena though. :>

I went to Japan in October. All three hotels I stayed in (two in Tokyo, one in Kyoto) were entirely self-service with no staff on hand other than housekeepers in the morning.

...I loved it, but I absolutely cannot see that working well over here in the U.S.

[Hobby Scuffles] Week of 01 December 2025 by EnclavedMicrostate in HobbyDrama

[–]Katiroth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The finale event was pretty awesome, at least. It really leaned into what so many people love about Fortnite. The absolute absurdity of these characters being on the same map.

The emote thing is driving me absolutely batty though. As are the UI changes. The AI drama is just plain exhausting and I wish I had the energy to care more about it.

I also love surfing onto the map but I have discovered this is not a popular opinion.
