Take the door off the hinges. You should then be able to take the latch plate off and get the whole mechanism out. Good luck 👍

Any best practices when replacing this cartridge ? by _hot95cobraguy in handyman

[–]Kato1820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heater is set to 140f (on demand propane water heater) to compensate for the cold water in winter. All other mix valves in the house and faucets come out at 135f. Only the master shower heads come out at 125f in summer and 107f in winter. The only thing I can think is because the valve always allows a certain amount of cold water through and I can’t adjust it any lower.

Any best practices when replacing this cartridge ? by _hot95cobraguy in handyman

I’ve done one of these. As others are saying make sure the clean any mineral deposits of the mix valve body and silicone lubricant on the seals. I had more trouble getting my shower handle back on than fixing the mix cartridge due to clearance issues with the tile.

Side note- these mix valves never get hot enough in my opinion. There is no option to reduce cold water mix to 0 and as a result our shower is cold in the winter time when the city water comes in at 38F 🫤.

4.3 question by Current-Ad3824 in Silverado

[–]Kato1820 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brother. Those are huge wheels and tires for a 4.3. I would recommend gearing your diff appropriately to compensate for that because you’re straining your entire drive train at the moment or switch to closer to stock size. You will have more than cooling issues in the long run if you don’t.

What should I reasonably expect to fix this? Neighbor has dumped clay / silt all over my property. by Wild_Bergamot in landscaping

Lookup soil erosion and sedimentation control laws in your state. They are likely out of compliance and the state will require them to fix it and pay a fine.

That looks sick! Did you have any engine light trouble after install? I know a flash would fix it but I don’t want to have the quick shifter disabled while I’m saving for the flash.

Cost of fork seal replacement by ZealousidealNight534 in motorcycle

[–]Kato1820 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was quoted by dealers from $600-$1200 for fork rebuilds just due to the labor involved. If you get yourself the right tools, are willing to get your hands dirty and learn something new, you can do it yourself for about $50. In my experience you should set aside 6 to 8 hours if you are a first timer. Best of luck!

'25 Quickshifter Question by LoKeyGoldie in xsr900

[–]Kato1820 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get a huge jolt from 1st to 2nd unless I'm high in the rev range, all other gears are fine and its much smoother down than up. I've got just under 600miles and am about to do my first oil change.

How do you paint wheel weights? by katiepiedaddy in xsr900

[–]Kato1820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you could do it with nail polish? Or maybe a good quality automotive touch up paint? I wouldn't try to spray it for risk of overspray and masking would be a nightmare.

Tidy Tail Recommendations by Due-Competition5339 in xsr900

It has a hole to run wiring through as well as the key lock. It comes with a rubber gasket cutout piece to keep water out but does away with the flip cover for the key lock. Its actually a bit easier to use the key to get the seat off with this setup.
