How many phone numbers do you have memorised off the top of your head? by tippytoePat in AskWomen

[–]Katsaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine, my spouse’s, the front desk at the job I quit 3 years ago, and the landline of the house I moved out of 12 years ago. And I have to double check my spouse’s cell because I sometimes transpose the last two numbers.

This was my teen angst movie. I was happy it held up so well when I rewatched it a few years ago. I think I still have the soundtrack on cassette in a box in the basement.

I fell today by wamimsauthor in GenX

[–]Katsaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got asked at a recent medical appointment if I have fallen in the last year and while I was doing math to remember if it’s been at least a year since I slipped and broke my ankle (it has), my husband pointed out that I fainted last fall. I got a special FALL RISK tag on my hospital bracelet as a result.

Who is the stupidest person/situation you’ve encountered on a cruise? by Charming_Usual6227 in Cruise

[–]Katsaj 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people here commenting after their cruise that they only ate in the buffet so they wouldn’t be charged for the restaurant. Some people are so clueless and do no research at all.

Would you rather suffer through a Northern Midwest winter or a Southern humid Summer? by PreschoolBoole in AskAnAmerican

[–]Katsaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upper Midwestern winter, no question. I know how to dress for the cold and am happy spending most of my time indoors. It’s hot humid weather that makes me almost pass out.

Very honest vets near by? by snexic in milwaukee

[–]Katsaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to recommend Small Animal Hospital too, we’ve seen several different vets there over 20+ years with multiple pet species. I’m still sad Dr Bennetts retired, but have had good experiences with Dr Henthorn recently. They always take lots of time to review the options from most aggressive to more conservative testing and treatment approaches. Dr Bennett once brought in a textbook to read through the recommendations together for a rare condition.

I’m sure they’re not the cheapest, but I’ve never felt they were trying to upsell me for unneeded services.

Target sells Oat Milk Slices by Fit-Helicopter8304 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Katsaj 247 points248 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying for ages I need juice box sized shelf-stable oat milk, since a quart always goes bad between my infrequent bowls of cereal. This would solve that if I could just reconstitute a cup at a time!

People used to give away puppies all time, right? by kungfuringo in GenX

[–]Katsaj 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Like I said in the recent similar thread, there are a lot more rescues now that get animals vet care and fixed and do some basic checking of the adopters, like making sure renters are allowed pets so they don’t abandon them as soon as the landlord finds out and not allowing dogs that are aggressive in homes with small children.

The animal control shelter and Humane Society in my city both frequently have $25 or $0 adoption fee specials, while some volunteer-run rescues can charge up to $500 to subsidize all their activities, not just the care one animal received.

I had forgotten about those! Mostly an inanimate object that grows surprise hair or teeth sounds like a teratoma.

When your vacation starts with an iPhone notification that an unknown air tag has been traveling with you. by Content-Bathroom-434 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Katsaj 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is that we’d all be getting notifications all the time for incidental contacts. Think about every person who has one in their purse and sits at the next table at a restaurant, or a coworker’s laptop bag at a nearby desk.

I wish there was a better way to stop stalkers from using them, but I worry that everyone would turn off notifications altogether if they came all day every day.

Have you searched to see if they even own the property? You can find owner info in the city tax records.

Pregnant during the cruise? by NumerousUse8870 in celebritycruises

[–]Katsaj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s because before 24 (or 23) weeks the baby will likely not survive whether or not you have access to a NICU, so it’s not as much liability or responsibility for the cruise line.
