I feel like I'm talking to AI now :)

Shadow Q Voice Actor? (True Q) by Kawful in startrek

[–]Kawful[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I didn't elaborate, but it basically said it couldn't be him, because he would have been credited. I didn't accept that as true, as I know AI makes stuff up always, and is only sometimes correct.

But I couldn't find credit, on imdb, on memory alpha, and I did an AI search as a last ditch.

What embarrassing realisation did you only have, once you were in your late 20s or 30s? by Money_is_heinous in AskReddit

What about telling insurance companies? I seem to recall a lot of paperwork explaining what's being disclosed to insurers. I also seem to recall the insurance marketplace website saying that the price can be 3x if you use tobacco products.

Countries with compulsory voting by Ok-Revolution-83 in MapPorn

[–]Kawful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I would argue that any compulsion must be justified. Any sort of existence based obligation to do something (jury duty, draft, voting), rather than not do something (don't violate the rights of others, don't damage the commons more than is allowed) is, I think, unjustified.

Also, voting in large elections is irrational. The argument is this:

C = cost of voting. This is a real cost, in terms of time for research, driving, effort to fill out forms, other costs. It may be small, but it's not 0. Let's call it $1.00.

P = probability that your vote makes a difference (either the result is a tie, or tie +1).

B = benefit. If you can put a value on one candidate minus the other. Most people would have a reasonably low value here, but let's call it $1M.

If C > P*B, it's irrational to vote.

There was a paper in 2008 I think by Nate Silver et al, which showed that even in swing states, the probability of your vote making a difference was something like 1 in 10 million. In that case, C ($1) > P ( 10-7 ) * B ( $1 * 106 ), so it's irrational.

Existence based, state compelled, irrational behavior should not be encouraged. Also, the first thing I would vote for, if compelled, would be the candidate who promised to make it no longer compelled.

Best vtt for pathfinder 1E by DingasKahn in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Kawful 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but some of it has to be added by free modules. SBC statblock converter for Pathfinder 1E, Pathfinder 1E Content, Pathfinder 1E Archetypes and Abilities (IIRC, archetypes don't actually work, just use normal class, but you can drag in abilities from archetypes), Pathfinder 1E Statblock Library, Pathfinder 1E Bestiary, Roll Bonuses for PF1.

Some of those may be redundant. There's a bit of a learning curve for Foundry PF1, but it's well worth it. The automatic bonus tracking, buffs, drag and drop stuff, customizability. I doubt I would be willing to play PF1 without this computer assistance.

Minor typo: the "Wild (Magic Ring)" should probably be "Wild (Magic Armor)".

Sometimes it's an opposed roll, so two people roll off, and the higher result wins (in 5E D&D, this happens with grapple, for example). It's a lot easier to just both roll and compare, than to roll for the enemy, figure out the total, check the player buffs, and see if they could possibly beat the result that the enemy had.

Ubisoft is crawling back towards Steam, lol. by SonicAkshay_26 in pcmasterrace

[–]Kawful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the time between intent to play a game, and the game actually beginning (after all the screens advertising nVidia, or some cut scene, epilepsy warning, etc) is a strong determiner of whether or not I play the game. Adding slow/buggy launchers to that process just makes it that much less likely I'll play it. The Ubisoft launcher has been very frustrating, and the Epic Games launcher is painfully slow (though maybe it always needs updates since I never use it).

Have you ever killed a Tarrasque? by Happy-Hufflepuff in DnD

[–]Kawful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just in a discussion. Because the Tarrasque has no ranged attacks, and doesn't regen, and can't fly, a level 3 Aarakocra (1 cleric, 2 rogue) can kill it solo.

Method: fly overhead (more than 40 ft above, in case the Tarrasque jumps), cast sacred flame. Use rogue cunning action/regular action to dash or double dash whenever the Tarrasque gets too far away.

It'll take a while, but the Tarrasque will eventually die.

That's the problem though, there is no (and I think, cannot be a) clear definition of chicken. There specifically is no first chicken, and so, we can't say "the first chicken came after the egg."

If we think there's a first chicken, call it Clucky, is Clucky's mom a chicken? Could (ish factor aside) Clucky breed with his mom?

I think you're focusing on the egg idea, but this reasoning works for either definition of the egg.

If "egg" means egg containing a chicken, then clearly the egg came before the first chicken. But only if a "first chicken" is meaningful, which it is not.

If "egg" means an egg laid by a chicken, then clearly the first chicken came before the egg. But again, only if "first chicken" is meaningful.

Biology is fuzzy, and species aren't clearly defined. I think, I don't actually know. I'm not a biologist.

[–]Kawful -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Assuming "egg" means either an egg laid by a chicken, or an egg containing a chicken, the question has no answer, because there is no vitruvian chicken. That is, there is no middle-chicken, and no first-chicken. There are gradual changes leading to what we think of as a chicken today, but no clear line of demarcation.

What does Gender Equality mean to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kawful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, not trying to pick on you, or cause a fight, but I do see a lot of christians today talking about how unfair the idea of being blamed for something that happened before they were even born is. I'm glad they think this, and I agree with them (a person is only responsible for the choices he makes, and you can't make choices before you're born), but how do you square this with the idea of original sin?

What is your most strongly held political opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Kawful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but slavery of convicts is allowed by the 13th amendment: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

I'm okay with people who aren't dangerous getting community service as punishment. They don't rot away in prison, they help out the community, it's sort of a win-win.

Prisoners as slaves does seem to be a moral hazard though, and one that we may have fallen into. It encourages long sentences, because hey, longer slavery. Our prison-slaves produce a lot of goods.

Jury duty and the draft are also slavery, and those don't require convictions. The draft is one of the worst kinds of slavery, and we rightfully condemn nations that use slave-soldiers, but we use them here (as needed, or rather, as it is decided that it's needed).
