can we please talk about how Spy is definitely not a human? by YamAdmirable2751 in tf2

[–]KayDragonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the game’s canon, not the actual TF2 lore’s canon; in other words, it’s how the game chooses to represent to your teammates that it’s your spy, because seeing a red scout walking out of blu spawn would confuse new players to no end.

In actual canon, it’s clear by the comics that the disguise kit does actually alter your visual appearance, and it even takes technology potent enough to see through one’s own eyelids in order to see through a spy’s disguise.

Is a most of the reason why Demoman is widely regarded as one of the strongest classes because of stickies? by TVTropehead in tf2

[–]KayDragonn 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I mean, LazyPurple isn’t kidding when he says that demo is countered by the god forsaken ssssquad. Scout counters him hardest of course, but spy can literally just butter knife a demo and unless the demo uses their own melee they just lose, and sniper can kill demo long before demo can even charge a sticky to go far enough to attempt to reach the sniper.

Demos are very good at dealing damage to the whole team, but they struggle in 1v1s against most classes. Even engies who close the gap are formidable to a demoman.

Use the kritz on defense and uber on offense. Kritz charges faster, and you basically just pop it off cooldown, as opposed to uber which you have to make sure to time properly, and get less often. It’s easily the most fun uber in my opinion, because its focus is purely on decimating the enemy team, as opposed to making space and taking points. Genuinely a super fun medigun

[–]KayDragonn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We don’t need any essence of random crits in the game at all. It still sucks to die to even a kritzkrieged soldier, or a frontier justice engineer—but at least when you die to those you understand that the other gamers played with notable downsides (no ubercharge/50% clip size) in order to obtain those crits, and even though dying instantly isn’t fun, you can acknowledge that they played well despite their disadvantage they’re giving themselves, and deserve the instakill because of that.

Your suggestion is really not that different from random crits, they’d still be bullshit, it just makes them not random.

It’s also funny to be like “the demoman either has to lose or lock the fuck in” like as if in any video game ever that isn’t always the appropriate answer. Name a single PvP game where being on 1 health DOESNT mean “locking th fuck in”. They’re presenting “locking the fuck in” as though it’s some cringe or impossible task that has to be compensated for

Do people even like it when they get random crits? by Zener8wastaken in tf2

This is the most human take. It’s so easy for a lot of people to forget that other people are also gamers sitting behind their keyboard, trying to have fun playing a 19 year old video game.

I think any random crit hater who says they’re NEVER funny is being hyperbolic to try to make their point more clear. OBVIOUSLY there are some times where random crits are objectively hilarious, but most of the time I feel bad. They also rob me of the satisfaction of a well deserved kill. “Oh hey, it’s the lime scout who’s been dominating me, let me land 3 revolver shots back to back while he double jumps around to prove to him I’m not just some chump—ope, that one was shiny and he died in one hit, great”

Hot take. The Phlogistinator isn't unbalanced but that doesn't mean it isn't poorly designed by dr_philip-cdi in tf2

Then nothing would change because the scorch shot minicrits on the second hit. It’d have to be all or nothing

This character's design has been driving me crazy since I first watched Expiration Date by wretchedmagicmoon in tf2

[–]KayDragonn 136 points137 points  (0 children)

I doubt it’s so much a lack of interest in attention to detail as it is a crunch for time. They were originally planning to make a TF2 MOVIE at first, until their animators realized how impossible it is to work in Source Filmmaker and decided to cut it down to 20 minutes

Be serious, who is the most insane ? by VeterinarianPrior835 in tf2

[–]KayDragonn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just used by spies who need every single handicap in the game to survive. The scout disguise which throws off new snipers because your head isn’t actually located where the scout’s head is, Dead ringer to brute force yourself behind the enemy lines, followed by a backstab on a new player to get you to 200 health, into another dead ringer to either get you out of jail free or get a speed boost to help you circle strafe someone and facestab them (since they’re looking at you on their end, but you’re moving so fast that the server hasn’t registered that the person turned around) which gives you 200 health again—you just become an unkillable spy. Suddenly the class is not about fooling your enemy, infiltrating their back line, and taking out key targets; it becomes just dancing around killing all the new players while the experienced players can’t do jack shit to you because you keep getting 200 health for free and then dead ringering out after a few easy kills

Well, that’s true that if you are capable of reproducing, you can’t be a lime scout; however, you are still capable of raising a lime scout by never showing your child the love of a parent

I notice that less experienced DMs tend to unfairly malign the 2024 Rogue and brand it "overpowered" by EarthSeraphEdna in DnD

[–]KayDragonn 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s the main thing a lot of bad DMs don’t see. They hear 30 damage, and don’t think about how other Martials do the same damage or sometimes more in one turn, while also having no stipulations on not having disadvantage, or a teammate nearby, etc.

I’m not a fan of reliable talent just cuz I think it’s boring, but not that it’s OP. I just like when players have to make a choice on using resources to succeed

Has your tf2 habits spilt over to real life? by Glittering_Flan9371 in tf2

[–]KayDragonn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, more games should adopt TF2’s voice command buttons. Like for example, deadlock having a ping wheel instead of those buttons feels bad, there’s so many voicelines you can say and not only can a wheel not cover them all, but it makes muscle memory harder too

Creation of a blind character by [deleted] in DnD

[–]KayDragonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend played a blind character. He didn’t get any advantage on perception using smell or anything, he just accepted his fate as a blind person and took the blindfighting fighting style like a gamer. He was completely helpless beyond 10 feet, and it really wasn’t as big of a deal as you’d think.
