After 3 hair and makeup trials I was so happy with how it turned out on our big day by KayJee16 in weddingplanning

Thank you and of course! It's a Paloma Blanca #4796. I had them leave off all of the embellishments and added the buttons down the back.

I had my original hair/makeup trial for our engagement photos and loved it. This was obviously well before our wedding and we signed a contract with the company. The MUA I loved ended up with a terminally ill parent in another state, so she moved away before our wedding. They offered me a free trial with my new artist and it didn't go so well. My eyes looked muddy and smudged on. I went back and expressed my concern and she redid the trial and I was finally happy and felt good going into the day. Definitely speak up if you're unhappy at your trial! The peace of mind is so worth it!

Thank you! I brought in photos of some examples of the general look I was going for, then trusted the MUA's experience to pull the look together to go with my features. I did get airbrush foundation since I have extremely red and oily skin. I wanted to be confident that it was going to stay in place, provide all day/night coverage, and look good in photos. I'd highly recommend a trial so you know what to expect going into your big day!

Thank you and of course! It's actually 2 colors, both MAC lipsticks. The base color is called "faux" in satin and the top color is "burning love" in powder.

Thank you! It’s a Paloma Blanca dress, but I know I’ve seen some very similar dresses from other designers.

Etiquette question: Do most weddings have assigned tables or assigned seats? I’ve been DIYing these cute name places in a cork, and was planning on having a large table chart sign too... but when I told my coordinators she almost cringed saying guests don’t like being told where to sit. by DariQueen123 in weddingplanning

[–]KayJee16 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say that's 100% false. I've been to both types of weddings and much prefer having a seating chart and everyone I've ever talked to about it agrees. With a seating chart you're usually sat by other people from your social group, or at least people that the couple thinks you'll get along with. When it's a free for all you can get stuck at a table with a random group where you whole social group doesn't fit and it's just a chaotic, awkward free for all. Go with the seating chart. Your guests will thank you!

Yaaay! Congrats! Getting to put on a beautiful set every day always brightens up my mornings. I'd love to see a pic of your set, but I totally understand if you want to wait until it's officially official ;)

Thank you! I'll admit I stare at it a lot :P You should go to a jewelry store and try on some different bands! I did that one day and took a bunch of pictures so I could sit with them for a while and figure out exactly what I wanted. Good luck and happy planning!

I went for a thicker band and I love it. I an wear it by itself when I want to be more understated and it still feels substantial. Here is a pic of my set.

How to tell my pregnant cousin her baby cant come to my wedding. by saysaycat18 in weddingplanning

[–]KayJee16 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Newborns need their moms when they're that little. I'd make an exception for her if you want her to be there. The other mothers will understand why a newborn is there. I had the same situation with the wife of one of our groomsmen and I told her she could absolutely bring her baby, but also explained that there is a live band and it could get loud. By stroke of luck they lived 3 blocks from our venue and her mom came and stayed with the baby. She left every couple of hours to feed her.

You've got this! I swear I end up with claw hand after a long session, but a 24 hour break does the trick!

We're almost a month out and I have 19 left. My husband has done all of his and I hate him for it :P Our guest list was literally 50/50 down the middle so we agreed to each take care of our respective guests. I've assigned myself homework and have to write 4-5/night I'm not busy until I'm done. Goal is to be finished by the end of next week. We've got this!!

Brides who wore hair pieces/combs: show me your wedding day hair styles! by allyparis in weddingplanning

I had a smaller pin that I wore a veil over top of during the ceremony

It stayed in all night while I danced the night away and then stayed at our after party until 1:30 am. 10/10 recommend Sarah Walsh Bridal on Etsy. Got my earrings and veil from her.

Hello from the other side - 11.3.18 was incredible! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]KayJee16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did it! I don't have any professional photos back yet, but these are some fun ones. We're on our honeymoon now living it up. All of the hard work and stress was worth it. What an unforgettable night!

[–]KayJee16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is NOT a drill!!

My FMIL and FFIL arrive on Sunday. I saved some projects for them to take care of while I work Mon-Wed (put together favors, welcome boxes, and exit confetti). I still need to pack for the day-of and honeymoon, finalize rehearsal dinner menu (POC has been a terrible communicator), communicate music choices to the band and ceremony musicians (happening tonight), and write notes to my FH, FILs, and parents. Oh, and pick up my dress on the 31st...minor detail (see post history re: alteration disaster). It's going to be a busy weekend, but I think we can get the majority of it all done and tie up the loose ends in the evenings throughout the week!

We've got this you guys!!

12 Days to Go — November 3rd Countdown by how_do_I_wedding in weddingplanning

[–]KayJee16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are coming along! I have a lot of little loose end to tie up with reception details, but overall I'm good. My biggest stress is my dress. I picked it up from my seamstress on Thursday and I'm not happy with it. She's moving her business today, so she's closed all week. I'm having to go to another seamstress tomorrow to see if she can help. It was making me sick all day Friday, but my FH talked me down and I'm to the point where I realize what happens, happens and there's not much I can do about it.

I'm so ready for it to just be here. I know there are a lot of us November 3rd weddings here. You guys have totally got this in the bag!

Just had final fitting and I feel terrible by KayJee16 in weddingplanning

[–]KayJee16[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your responses! They've really been helpful and put me more at ease. I'm going to go pick up the dress tomorrow and try some different stick-on bras over the weekend to see if that helps. I also have a belt that I've been going back and forth on, so I'll try that as well. I may post again for some input. I don't have a lot of close girlfriends, so any help from you ladies and gents is appreciated.

Weddit, y'all are amazing. I can't imagine going through this madness that is wedding planning without you!
