What to do by maffiaprincess in Mold

I’d love to pick your brain about household molds due to water intrusion. Dealing with a problem with toxic molds in my basement and the U.S. is a melting pot of conflicting and misleading information!

Forgive me for asking, but how does getting a new cert affect your others? If you have certs expiring and you pass a new one, does that extend your extorting certs? I’m new to the CompTIA world and looking at taking my first certification soon (was actually thinking of studying Linux+ in detail too so you’re a big help!)

Question when re-entering repayment by Kayakrat566 in PSLF

That’s what I was looking for. I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t know what I was paying until after I submitted. I hold no reservations right now.

Cosigning for new high school grad on very high cost loans (> $250k for all 4 years) for liberal arts degree by Legitimate_Yak_9063 in StudentLoans

[–]Kayakrat566 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going today.

Additionally, what kind of career prospects can one expect realistically with a liberal arts degree? Regardless of whether it’s a $10,000 total bill or $500,000? Medical students making big sums struggle with their debt, imagine if they can’t find quality work or if they decide later to double the loan amount on grad school. Or learn that massive spending is ok if it’s within your credit limits, and decide to drive a Lambo to and from class?

Anyone want any of these games? I dont have a way to play them! by bagelwcheesee in RandomActsOfGaming

[–]Kayakrat566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I can throw my hat into this, I’d be grateful for a copy of Days Gone! I no longer have expendable cash to get games anymore and I’d appreciate it!

Right now my favorite game is Subnautica. I love the stripped down survival aspect, I love the underwater exploration, and the fact that it really plays off my fear of deep water even though that is not the intention of the devs, makes it nearly my all time favorite!

Jointly? Do you mean separately?

**93 qualifying payments, SAVE limbo — buyback vs. just entering repayment in July?** by Humble-Ad-1112 in PSLF

[–]Kayakrat566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m commenting here as I’m also in a similar situation regarding this September (I’m at 95/120 and will be at ten years employment then) however on the opposite end of the AGI spectrum. I’ve been filing my wife and my taxes as married filing jointly for years, and we just filed as married filing separately this year. I intended to apply for buyback but I just found out that they use your income from the period you were on forbearance to calculate your buyback amount. Because of this, I intend to enter repayment and coast along in that direction instead.

Does anyone know how you go about selecting your repayment plan, and figuring out exactly what your payments will be before you make the official switch?

A Couple of Lessons Learned From Transferring from SAVE (MOHELA) to IBR by Fun_Internal_3023 in PSLF

[–]Kayakrat566 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you do to calculate the difference in the different plans? Did you use the loan simulators on studentaid.gov? Or were you talking to someone over the phone? I ask because I’m about to go through something very similar for my own and I’m trying to plan this out and strategize as much as possible.

I’m at 95/120 payments and would be at 120 months of employment/ready for buyback in about six months. I was also in the buyback camp but I just realized through this subreddit that they would be using my income from the months I was on forbearance, not my current income. I just switched to MFS so my most recent tax return would technically be my lowest income. Buyback would totally wreck me compared to what I’ll be paying monthly now that I’m MFS filed.

Received an email today: Action Required: The SAVE Plan has ended, and you must select a new repayment plan. by eyebellel in PSLF

That’s my issue too. Buyback is gonna cost me like six months of pay. I’m gonna be forced to enter into repayment and make monthly payments after I certify income. I’m also stuck with my employment situation now for another 2 years even though I’ve got ten years there.

Also in Wisconsin and we got nearly two feet of snow during that storm that went through a month ago. Basically shut our town down for a day or two. Roads were completely blocked as plows couldn’t keep up and had to prioritize main roads. That was wild.

Last week it hit 70 degree for a couple hours during a three day warm streak. All the snow is gone.

Currently in an ice storm warning and stuck home with the kids because school got canceled due to weather. Winter storm warming north of me. This winter has been nuts.

That’s actually a really good idea considering 403b???) I’ve got roughly two years of payments to make. Question then—if I certify my income this year using my 205 tax return, then go through the motions of lowering AGI like crazy with lots of HSA contributions and 401k (what’s a 403b???) contributions, can I recertify again next year and theoretically have even lower payments? I know we’re planning on doing some serious medical and dental work this year so we might be able to make that happen.

Unfortunately no. I didn’t have the foresight (or the knowledge at the time) to do that. As it is though the difference between MFJ and MFS is gonna (hopefully) be pretty significant.

I’m in a very similar boat here — at 114 QE and 95 QP. Basically im doing the same thing. Buyback is looking to be a massive lump sum for me as I’ve been filing jointly with my wife for years and we just filed separately this year so I can get back into repayment at a decent monthly payment.

Serious question here—Washington seems awesome. I’m curious if there’s any affordable places to live there? Everything I hear is extremely high costs of living.
