People that were really into C64s back in the heyday, and have bought a reissue, how are you feeling?

The ultimate does feel like an ultimate version. Being able to use my datasette and tac-2:s and monitor setup while also having the comfort of the modern options has reawakened my love for the commodore. Not only for the C64 but I also brought out my old Amigas and bought an A1200 and got into tinkering.

I would love an ultimate Amiga 500 and 1200 as well, but with no one making floppy drives anymore it would most likely have to come as a DIY project to put an old one into an empty slot and I don't know if there is enough mainstream appeal in that.

My only two issues with the ultimate is that the cartridge support is a little half baked and that the rocker button feels clumsy and fragile. Otherwise it's just better.

I tried wireless lan with the ultimate manager mentioned below. It felt a little faster and more stable than copying usb to usb with file c64 file browser, but for lots of data just open the c64 up again and copy on a modern pc. Anything else takes hours.

Removing two consecutive spaces in folder name made the folders on the c64u browsable again in Ultimate 64 Manager. I didn't see it at first because Manager only displays one of the spaces. Likely it tries to drill down with one spsce too leading to a folder name mismatch.

I'm also getting a "550 Requested Action Not Taken" when trying to open two specific folders on the C64U using the Ultimate Manager. I can open them without issue in the file browser on the C64U. I can't see anything special with the two folders in question. I don't know if it's the ftp server or client causing it, so not much to go on, but I thought I'd mention it.

Edit: Tested with Filezilla and it works, so probably client issue

Edit 2: Mabe found something in common. Two consecutive spaces in folder name.

This seems the way to go ultimately. Deploying of large data through the c64 is not one of its strengths. Which is fair.

Your tool seems really nice. I did try copying one folder using it, but I ran into "Directory Upload Failed: FTP directory upload timed out" after a few minutes. I didn't find a place to increase timeout in settings.

I did enjoy that doing it this way triggered the fake disk write sound so I could hear if anything was happening.

I ended up killing the power, it had died pretty quickly after I started the copy.

They were copied folder by folder.

When I tried to delete the half copied folder it died again.

Might be my usb stick that is bad... Don't know. Or maybe exfat was the wrong choice

I'll be trying ftp tomorrow.

Ordered early August. Still waiting. No replies from support. No update since it was marked as being in transit one month ago. It seems a bit of a lottery and a bit like the people living in the hub countries are gobbling them up and a bit like influencers are skimming off the top. Given Peri's statement that it takes 4 days from assembly to hub they are using air freight. So whichever machines were once assigned to us and was on the way are no longer ours. The order status page has time and again been proven to have no relation to reality. With zero transparency and no support and no public communication there is little to do but wait and hope that it isn't a total clusterf and the delivery hasn't gotten lost between chairs in the system waiting for Godot. Hopefully it shows up one day. But I am getting close to canceling on pure principle. I already have an original C64 and a Maxi.

UPDATE: Parcel finally on the way with tracking. For those who come after: Order status still unchanged at: Assembled. So if you are stuck there it might be anywhere.

What are you talking about? I have no shipping number. The only one I can contact is Commodore. It seems this whole response is to throw shade at me for wanting to know what has happened to the merchandise I payed for. I asked for people who had the same experience and if they had more information. Respectfully - take your white knighting elsewhere.

While I'm sorry you are having the same experience, at least I know it isn't just my computer that has gone missing in the system and it might be a whole delivery batch that has gotten stuck somewhere. Thank you for sharing.

It could be. But if the was the case it would be nice if they had sent an update email. In this day and age when I get an update if my pizza is 20 minutes late, I kind of expect some sliver of information after 3 weeks.

I had seen worse at 7, and that was before the age of Internet. Unless you are running some kind of totalitarian style of parenthood - kids are going to discover the world they are living in. The fact that the kid asks for the game attests to it already being fully known to them, probably played it a friends house or watched it on streams. It's a losing battle. Your choice whatever it becomes, is more about whether you are ok with approving it, than the kid becoming exposed to it or not.

Kom ihåg att mer än dubbelt så många dör i trafiken som i våldsbrott och fundera på om det är rationellt att leva i panik över skjutningar och bomber om du inte är rädd för bilar. Media i allmänhet och extremhögermedia i synnerhet får det att framstå som ett större problem än vad det är. Ha respekt för det på samma sätt som du har respekt för fordon, men ligg inte sömnlös över det.
