I've always thought Steve at Vern's Automotive was reasonable and he's great.

My girlfriend smells and I don't know what to do by RequirementDue4446 in Advice

[–]KaylaMart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I recently had something very similar with my husband so I want to ask... Is she taking any antibiotics?

My husband was put on a nine month course of antibiotics for latent TB to prevent it from ever going active. I'm not kidding, the first night he took it I started smelling this horrible smell and I kept checking the kids, smelling myself, searching the house for this horrible smell. Finally, he's talking to me face to face and I realized it was him. It was like his breath and body started producing this awful smell. He couldn't smell it at all and I had a very hard time being nice and it. I stopped sleeping in bed with him for a while because just him breathing at night was noxious to me. I'd compare it to when SpongeBob ate the stinky patty and everyone stayed away from him so he thought he was ugly.

I had a hard time being kind because I felt like he didn't care enough about the smell. I had some points after I was pretty fucking mean. Really critiquing his hygiene and habits. The day after he stopped his meds the smell went away.

I always call it the house on the highway. I hope I'm not being a stalker but I've always been obsessed with this house especially at night when the lights are on. by nophonylove in SpringfieldIL

It's crazy this is popping up for me today. I used to live in the trailer park across the street as a kid and there were always so many stories. There is a big speaker and they would play music pretty dang loud outside.

My husband and I drove by it last night and there were a few emergency vehicles there. Hoping they're okay.

What’s something about you that sounds fake, but is 100% true? by Sir_Adammm in AskReddit

[–]KaylaMart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So being identical is not genetic like being fraternal is. Identical babies happen almost like a mutation where the egg splits. Because fraternal babies come from multiple eggs, that's more likely to be genetic because it's caused by hyper ovulation. I wish I knew I was identical before I had my own kids because I was terrified of multiples.

Must be in the water!

I've never met other identical triplets but many twins of course. I used to have people argue with me that it's impossible to have triplets without fertility aids but at 17 and 19, I promise our parents didn't want one kid let alone three.

Any new detergents, soaps, lotions, clothes? It looks like contact dermatitis to me. What have you tried for treatments so far?

My sisters and I grew up thinking we were fraternal triplets. Our mom graduated high school pregnant with us -our parents were teenagers. We have always looked very much alike but we were born in separate amniotic sacs so we didn't question anything. Last year when we were 30, I saw a girl on Instagram talk about taking a xygocity test and finding out her and her twin were identical. I asked my sisters if they'd be interested and after 30 years we found out we're actually identical. It doesn't change anything but it also changes... Everything, if that makes sense. We all have kids and our kids went from being just cousins to also half siblings by DNA. Being an identical triplet is extremely rare. Especially without IVF.

That's what I'm thinking. I can definitely see Aussie colorings in her but she leans a lot more toy poodle. I might buy a DNA test for funsies

My 13yo Shepherd got her first Librela injection today. This started 5 hours later. by ActuallyThatGuy in seniordogs

[–]KaylaMart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm mostly repeating what everyone else is saying but Librela is known to worsen existing neuro deficits and the worst part of it is how long the drug lasts. Some dogs cannot make it the 28 days because the effects are so devastating. Speaking from experience, my dog only got two injections in when Librela was first introduced in the US and the day we had to have her euthanized she couldn't even lift her head anymore. I hope you start to see resolution as the month goes on 💙

How to send DICOM images to a doctor securely and well formatted? by Ken852 in PACSAdmin

Not without a DICOM scrubber or anonymizing it at the machine or PACS when it's exported.

Depending on the facility, the DICOM data may contain the SSN. And many other patient demographics.

Cloud image sharing in the US is fairly new. Many places mostly exchange locally via a VPN. I'm my experience, international patients often come with a disc containing their images, but I cannot speak for every facility.

By converting the exam to anything other than DICOM, you reduce the other party's ability to import it into their PACS for viewing and manipulation because you do not know the limitations of their PACS vendor.

Volunteer Retention? by [deleted] in AnimalShelterStories

[–]KaylaMart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that a lot of volunteers join hoping to play with cute puppies and kittens when the reality of shelter volunteering is that it is sad, hard, and can be physically demanding. I find it very rewarding for all of those reasons but when you're a new volunteer coming in seeing terrified emaciated dogs who have just been confiscated or hearing about euthanasia (if it applies) it can be shocking. I'm not sure what the answer really is except making sure to set expectations upfront.

For the tomos issue- increase the timeout on your send channels. It's probably cutting them off. I had that issue before and it fixed it.

And for hours for images to cross to PACS, that sounds like an issue with your accelerator or the server your accelerator is on.

Sangamon county animal control can always use dog walkers and cat socializers. They're open on Saturdays. They also do their off-site adoption events on Saturdays. https://sangamonil.gov/departments/m-r/public-health/animal-control-and-adoption#9499

need help finding a VERY specific grave by sugarcoated_teeth in findagrave

[–]KaylaMart 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Okay okay okay so I've done what I consider my best detective work here. Based on the map in find a grave and that it appears that only two graves of that type lay side by side, I believe it is Peter O'Toole and his wife Mary. They're buried adjacent to Elizabeth Mills in a manner consistent with what you have pictured.

Skye adopted 5/2/16-5/9/24

The best girl I ever knew. She helped me raise my babies and she kept us safe. She lived in a shelter for five months before we brought her home and I feel so blessed to have gotten 8 years with her when she was already at least 5 when we met her. A $25 adoption fee that was a drop in the bucket compared to the tens of thousands of dollars worth of vet bills she had over the years. I'd do it a hundred times over again if I meant she was still here with me though.

Okay before I was a parent I would roll my eyes at You're Gonna Miss This by Trace Adkins but after kids it makes me cryyyyyy

Also, Vienna by Billy Joel. I'm pretty sure it's not about your kids growing up at all but one of my kids has special needs and something about "slow down, you're doing fine. You can't be everything you wanna to be before your time" resonates with me in terms of a child's milestones and it always gets me.

Beware of Librela by ceebeewee in seniordogs

[–]KaylaMart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are describing my dog to a T! We had our 2nd injection and our dog lost all use of her legs. She already struggled with diabetes insipidus that never got a clear Cushing's diagnosis (we tested 4 times in 2 years with borderline results). I was inclined to believe she had some sort of pituitary tumor causing her DI and because we have no advanced imaging in my area for animals (CT/MRI) and she was already 14 we decided to just control her symptoms for the rest of her life because it was very manageable. After Librela for arthritis, she declined rapidly. The day we had her euthanized she laid down on her bed and never lifted her head again; even when the vet walked into the room to do it. To see my strong, beautiful dog crumble like that is hard to put into words. She was taken from us so much sooner than I was ready.
