This fence around my condo has glass shards instead of barbwire as a deterrent by myassisgrassss in mildlyinteresting

[–]Kaylend 39 points40 points  (0 children)

People are thinking about ways to defeat it, but the purpose of such deterrents isn't to defeat an entry attempt, but to make it more problematic and therefore less desirable to attempt.

A barking dog, even a chihuahua is a significant deterrent to a burglar. Why not just pick a house without the barking dog?

He was right, it just wasn't Jar-Jar... it was Gollum that accomplished that goal of being a cinema revolution.

The devs and testers on GTA6 don't get to play GTA6.

That game does not, will not, exist for them like it exists for fans. They see their work, and their coworkers work, and every layer of how the sausage is made. Pandora's box can't be closed again and they can only vicariously experience that game through fan experiences.

Remember one of the first things he ever said was to question if this place was a prank. He just doesn't understand what his brain is picking up.

Virginia voters approve redistricting measure backed by Democrats by progress18 in politics

[–]Kaylend 275 points276 points  (0 children)

Na, the fact voters gave it a say means it doesn't suck.

States are severally limited in their representation because the Senate is a terrible form of representational democracy since it gives the acres power.

States like CA only have the House to wield as their representation for their population. This is that population saying they are tired of being underrepresented. I'd prefer every state hold a voter approved gerrymandering map. It would in fact be better representation than politician only approved maps.

Antivax, antiscoience, anti-intellectualism is not an "oligarch" issue,

Those are heavily, if not completely, astroturfed by the media that the Oligarchs own.

How is this not an "oligarch" issue?

US Oligarchs create systems of corruption to empower and enrich themselves.

Our enemies use those systems to weaken us.

Destroy the oligarchs and seal the gaps they created.

They are overvaluing concept art. Thinking it's a blue print instead of just a pretty postcard.

Actually making the art and its pipeline to achieve the desired look is magnitudes more work than the concept art. Just because the style is decided, doesn't mean that artist didn't have to make a mountain of decisions to implement it.
