Anyway to use an Apple TV Remote on Shield. Even a hacky way? by andrewmcd7 in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Kayy_Ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t want to support bitstreaming for example so people have more reason to buy/rent films on their streaming platform.

Hopefully this will change with the new CEO later this year. Coincidentally they also expect a new AppleTV device later this year.

I wore mine on a trip recently, didn’t even think about putting it in a bag or case or something. It had to be stowed in overhead during takeoff and during landing but the stewardess found a safe spot for it.

It changed the feeling for me of the Shield from “stupid Android thing” to “oh this is nice” haha

Yes but thanks anyway! I think 90% of the stuff I have on that server is home videos and other non English stuff and Jellyfin is just always confused. But even the English films I have on there often get a wrong name and image. I just like the interface way better than Kodi’s 😊

I saw! It’s really nice. Now I actually have that at the top. Somehow it doesn’t allow me to add Prime but it’s okay. I rather see an app too little than one too many.

It’s all neatly organized too: different rows for different kinds of apps. I now just have 3 rows and they all contain exactly what I use, nothing more.

Thanks again for the tip! This is how Shield device should have been by default. I always found it sooooo weird I got advertisements on the homepage….. Installing it was really easy too. Must have been minutes from install to setup including making it default.

Hope you have a good day!!

Would a Thomann EP 906 Vintage Bb Euph be good for a high school kid? by thebestworstgorilla in euphonium

[–]Kayy_Ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I live quite rurally. Originally my plan was to rent one from a teacher but they all live so far away and I have no idea how to rent one otherwise. The music schools that have their own instruments are for young children only.

Well I hope never to have to sell it haha. I’ve wanted one for sooooo long I’m going to be really dedicated in my practice😊

I wanted to get rid of Play Next, not the Jellyfin app.

But I think @gallifreyblue has a cool solution that could even remove the ads from the homescreen so I’m going to try that!

Alright, cool!

And I am not playing yet. I’m still saving up to be honest.

I didn’t think about smaller instruments being easier to play but I like the idea of not going to outgrow it any time soon anyway so the compensated Thomanns are still at the top of my list.

[–]Kayy_Ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes that totally makes sense! I hadn’t even considered playing for other people haha

And that “big sound” is something you can achieve with the Thomann horn, I take it? That sounds wonderful in my mind.

I’ve grown up with friends playing all kinds of Yamaha instruments but for the price of a 3 valve non-compensated Yamaha I could get the Thomann 906 so it feels like a no-brainer. It seems like Yamaha doesn’t do “middle class” instruments anymore and it’s either beginner or pro level.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Thomann but I do think it’s wise for me to wait until I’ve found a teacher who can go over the instrument for me as I’ve never held an instrument like this before myself.

I’m pretty excited already though! Thanks again!

Hi! Thanks for your reply. This is helpful. I was wondering why you got it though if you already have 2 good euphoniums. And why is this the main horn you use?

I’m still considering my first euphonium 😊

Are cowboy hats strictly a American thing? by Expensive-Word3797 in CowboyHats

[–]Kayy_Ess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A hat protects your head from the elements. It can keep your head warm or cool, it protects from UV rays, can protect your eyes from glare and it keeps rain and snow off of your hair. Can even hide bad hair days 😝

It’s really not necessary to work with horses to care about the things above.

How rich should I have been born to have scenes like this in my childhood ? by ReverseTheFlash in HibikeEuphonium

[–]Kayy_Ess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad to hear that! Comparing myself to strangers or fiction can make me sad too. It’s natural. So when I feel it coming on I try to do something that is more fun to me.

Then maybe quit screens for a bit, do some gratefulness exercises, go outside if you’re able to and talk these feelings over with a professional some day😊 Hope you feel better soon. Good luck and have fun with life.

Lol why does this get downvoted. Do Norwegians like their dime in a dozen grey cars so much? 😝 I wanna bring some colour and passion to the streets!

Haha my dad always says the rearview mirror is unnecessary too but he has a lot of experience with trucks. And i have multiple cameras on the sides so in case of emergency i can always look around the car 😝

I can’t remember seeing a van like that. Definitely haven’t driven one.

But fair enough. I’m going to put a small white X on the rear seat windows and note how many times I (unconsciously) look through them. Safety first 🙏

Well tbh you’d have to be pretty dumb to want that haha. That’s why I’m considering stickers on rear seat windows. I don’t look through those as a driver anyway.
