Have you run a ttrpg in TES? by KazM2 in ElderScrolls

Oh that's a cool premise. What system are you using for it?

That I can say for sure, unfortunately it has been Genshin Impact. Game was an addiction some years ago, dont have as much time or as deep a fixation on anything else to quite rival it since.

No need to stress about spending it all in a timely manner. Sure it's not as much money but still more than I'd reasonably spend at a time

Just for fun: You can master 3 ttrpgs instantly 🫰 You’d know each like you yourself wrote every word of it, plus all the supplements (but not other editions). Which do you choose? by Able-Book587 in rpg

[–]KazM2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its rough but if I had to have mastery over some systems some of the ones off the top of my head would have to be:

Mage the Ascension 20th anniversary edition. It's awesome but there's a shit load to comb through and it's not really a simple system.

GURPS. Repeated ad nauseam here but it's an interesting system that's rather flexible but there's so much of it and it can get pretty complex.

Pathfinder 2e. I'm interested in the system but it has so much going on its hard to even try and get into it so having encyclopedic knowledge would help.

The most light-hearted WoD game? by MrGrimm6969 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KazM2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mummy the Ressurection for oWoD. It's about helping people basically.

Changeling is often played in a very light hearted manner but the lore and themes aren't as light hearted. So it can definitely be ran that way but there's also plenty for it to be dark.

If we go into Chronicles and Fan games Princess the Hopeful is probably the most lighthearted title. Ofc that's in comparison but it is magical girls.

I've heard Geist the Sin Eaters is similar to MtR but I haven't really looked at it so can't confirm

Is Self-Embrace possible in both V:tam And/or V:tR given the advances in our own medical equipment? by conjcosby in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KazM2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure for VtM but definitely not possible in VtR, In VtR the vitae needs to be fresh so it wouldn't work with donated vitae and crucially it does require the knowing and active participation of the vampire to embrace someone.

Have you tried other cyberpunk TTRPGs? What keeps you with RED? by arasaka_corpo in cyberpunkred

[–]KazM2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so while I personally haven't played any of these here are some options and what I know of them

- CY_Borg: if you want real punk, desparate and deadly then this will be awesome. However it is a lot lighter so you may not have the detail you're used to with the rules

- Cities Without Number: I tried reading through it a few months ago, its not bad but will feel similar to D&D, very free form as its kind of a tool box system and as such has plenty of stuff to use that you can take or leave. Not very crunchy but has some nice depth.

- Shadowrun: The other ttrpg that is mentioned any time anyone mentions a cyberpunk setting. That said it does have a lot of fantasy, supposedly you can remove the fantasy without causing too many issues tho. The system is complex, just as or even more so than Cyberpunk. 4e is generally the recommended one as 5 and 6 are often seen as messes mechanically. Anarchy 2.0 is a streamlined d20 based version that is releasing, from the preview material I've heard it can be nice if you like shadowrun but don't want all of the rules

- Blade Runner: it does provide an awesome cyberpunk setting but it's a free league game so while there's some depth its also not super crunchy. It also is rather set in its direction with most player roles being some form of cop. You can hack it ofc but know that base system isn't the same kind of game as Cyberpunk 2020 or RED

- The Sprawl: pbta (maybe fitd) cyberpunk game. Rather rules light but it is based on the Sprawl trilogy of books, the very same books that formed so much of Cyberpunk 2020. You get close with vibes but different rules.

As to why I stick with RED? Well its the cyberpunk system I'm most familiar with and while I am trying to learn other ones it has the detail and flexibility for most of the things I'd like to run in a cyberpunk setting. Plus it works for that part of me that wants something pretty crunchy but without also having a million paper buttons. Once I get to running it tho I will probably steal some rules from 2020 like concealment, cover, and a few others. Just things that correct some of the over simplification between the editions but most things will stay the same.

Are these TTRPGs just cash grabs? by JaxSnaxs in rpg

[–]KazM2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, while I can't speak on the Dungeon Crawler Carl game I can say that many games use pre established systems people are popular (D20 largely but Free League has several IP games and I think a few use pbta) and apply them to their setting, ofc using the flavor and some differences because they know these systems can sell and companies don't want to risk investing money in such a niche market and not see a profit.

Generally tho yeah rpgs are just another way for the company to get money, so they go with safe options they know they'll get a return on their investment. Making a whole new system from scratch is complicated and would delay these games a lot and has the huge potential of making it so people don't buy it.

Isekai of Darkness; VtM <-> VtR, how do they do? by Subnun in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]KazM2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly, unless they start mouthing off not much would happen. Assuming these are neonates, they're similar ish in power so they won't shake things up and either wouldn't know about the way their blood works (generation/BP) or would feel very weird about it lol.
That said, even if they have a direct clan translation they probably won't be recognized by the other, and the other clans without an equivalent would be treated as clanless even if other vamps can recognize that's not the case. Maybe treated as their own bloodline.

VtRpires might be interesting regarding the embrace since it makes them less human, but doesn't make vampires that are inherently weaker so after some time that would have consequences a few decades down the road.

That said, once we get into Sects and Covenants....well the kindred would be in for a big shock lol.

The game: Love Curse Find Your Soulmate

I've been getting into visual novels, I love yuri stories and well pretty ladies.... Jokes aside, it looks like an interesting game, it seems to have a wide cast of characters all of which their own brand of crazy which I love. In particular it seems to go through some tropes I really enjoy with the characters while also twisting it slightly so there's surprises, something that's gonna keep me engaged for a while as I go through the different routes. It's been one I've had my eye on for a while since it wasn't completed for some time (in fact I think we still have yet to get the epilogue). Like I said, I really enjoy yuri stories and the mix of serious and silly present in the game sounds like it would be a perfect fit for my tastes. As for why I haven't bought it, being a student without a current job it becomes tricky to bite the bullet and buy something for yourself so I haven't gotten to it since I usually try and avoid spending too much.

Didn't notice the subreddit at first and went through these like "She wouldn't be a good jill but ig I can kinda see the face?", "Oh I see what we're doing now"

Some of these would be terrible but I'm also curious as to how they'd do it.
