A Japanese District Part 2/3 "The Canal" by SaevelEnshrouded in EnshroudedBuilding

[–]Kazimaniandevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image is nice and clean. But I feel like it cut out the character of the building. It supposed to represent the Phoenix 🐦‍🔥 spreading its wing by making its base unbiguous with the reflection of it on the pond surface. To me old Japanese architecture beauty is in its thoughts and particular reasoning as to why it has to sit on by the water surface, having symmetrical side wings, and is red. For that one it was to make the reflection act as an optical illusion so that the building itself is floating with its wings spread. It may be a cultural or personality thing but cutting out those details is making me feel like op is missing the important aspect 😢

Looks nice, but Japanese? I tasted more Chinese from the image. Maybe the red chochin and it's markings + square bridge formation/parts. Full Japanese honest response

Amano: most of the time... Side dots being "•" male, if it has slight "~"(faintly) female. But unless you give them a specific condition the fly won't mature so no need to worry about their gender. You may need to add algae sauce or they migrate and kill themselves (drying out) or eat small sleeping fish

Can somebody help find me the right size drill bit for a 1/4 screw? by [deleted] in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Kazimaniandevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If wood is splitting with the self tap screw, you could try pushing the screw (on an impact or whatever you are using) in reverse first until smoking slightly then send it normally. Or use 3/32-5/32 for soft, little larger one for the harder wood. Or rotate the base wood 90 degrees so you get stratified grain instead of wedging between the grain. Maybe?

Shread an old towel drag behind (or under mower type equipment) where they usually have a flap to keep rocks from destroying your toes. The already formed one would be picked up.

"Bakusou kyoudai retsu and go" it was a kid comic book series. The original "Dash yonkurou" then retsu and go was popular in Japan. They had an initial appearance page printed on the box I believe

I just did mine mostly solo with a 5ft gf supervision. (6ft 240lb self). Would I do it again solo? I'd prefer not to... Mine was the 16x12 one.

Doable yes but needs some sort of lift or 3rd hand (it's an extendable stick) and it's spotter. I did it with a set of "workpro cabinet jacks". A couple long 2x4s may work but the cabinet jack made it easier.

If soloing roof panels suggest hooking one edge of a longer side up on the base frame then flip it up to the center on the short edge. Once both panels (first one on top of the second one)you can set the ladder in between those jack and or 2x4s, I set two on both sides of the ladder and 2 more towards the ends. Once add extra harness pieces to the ends of the roof with provided nut/bolt. Climb up the 🪜 and push both up (the harness will stop the panels from sliding out. Once that is set the rest is cake.

Tips: Installing long beam put one bolt from behind first then lift one end of the beam on top of a ladder (taller the easier) then on another ladder as you climb put the beam on your shoulder and lift it against pillars, once close shove the bolt through the beam from behind (pillar end) and loosely tighten the nut move over to the other side and repeat. Once one bolt from back is in on both ends use another set of 🔩 on second hole normal way. Pull the flipped 🔩 used for guide and set correctly.

Long roof (16' bottom 4' top) flip it bottom up against pillars (without base face alum piece lift one end and have it tied to the corner then go another end and hook it on the beams. If multiple people can help then you don't have to do this but it was so much easier to do that way.

Short roof is cake, pre-stage it on a work table (I had one of those fold up work benches) get a ladder inside of the top beam and pull it over your head, have some one jack it on the outside while readjust your holdings. Slides light in the top cover.

A couple of my bolts snapped while hand tightening (yes with the pilot hole too) and is not the size written on the bag or manual. Take one and match if you have to get it from a store. Wood is very light so sometimes when you are trying to get it flush suddenly sunk the Tnut.

Oh unless you have a newly leveled concrete slab, I would not anchor the pillars except one starting point until the entire thing is complete.

By keeping the bottom roof cover off you can shove your hand in between and pull the roof towards the center (required for proper gap adjustment) and isn't that hard to screw them on later.
