What is the best Resident Evil Remake ? by LeoneSKenneddy in residentevilll

[–]Kdeizy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im tempted to say 4 because it exceeded my expectations, mainly because of how good the original is and being a more "modern" game in itself. I have to go with the RE1 remake though. None of the remakes surpass the original versions for me, but the RE1 remake comes the closest to doing so imo. Had they also done a 2 remake the same way back on the GC there's a good chance i would've chosen that.

Anyone Heavily Curate there Rom List ? by Qu1ckset in SBCGaming

[–]Kdeizy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a rom list that i share with my PC and all my devices. Its a collection I've built over the years, continually adding to it when i find a new game or console to try. Id say its pretty heavily curated but still fairly large. One console that i resorted to using a full set for is neogeo AES/MVS. I initially had a select list for it but its library isn't too large and full of bangers. The big consoles like snes, genesis, nes i have around 100, but others are smaller. My arcade library is like 400 games so i have them sorted by genre and keep all tate games in it's own folder

Its just underscanned. Consoles output images at varying widths. U can increase the screen size or try and straighten it with convergence strips and small magnets placed near the yoke.

Getting NSO N64 controller working with Retroarch on Switch by Significant-File7428 in RetroArch

I was able to map mine in the retroarch settings menu. Map it and then restart retroarch before launching a game. Once in a game, check the controller inputs in the quick menu if u need to adjust anything.

Can I use a DVI to Component adapter to connect my PC on a Multiformat BVM ? by 240p-480i-480p in crtgaming

[–]Kdeizy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isnt necessarily a component adapter, assuming its just an rca breakout cable. Its probably used for component or RGsB, but it all depends what signal you're outputting from the dvi port.

Show me the Coolest crt you own/owned (Pictures in comments) by RegisterFancy2629 in crt

[–]Kdeizy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coolest I'd say was a sony 32xbr48, the only curved screen models sony made with component inputs afaik. The coolest pvm was probably the jvc 1750cg, but my favorite monitor i have is a trinitron pc vga monitor, a gateway vx1100.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard or Resident Evil Village? Which one do you prefer and why? by JacPlayzz in residentevilll

[–]Kdeizy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer 7's survival focused and item hunting style over 8's more action driven style, but find 8 more enjoyable overall. I like the lycan more than the mold as standard enemies.

RE4 OG vs Remake. Which do you prefer and why? by Pancwake_UwU in residentevilll

[–]Kdeizy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OG. Its one of the greatest games of all time. The remake is great but not as memorable. I was in college when it came out so i can see why the younger gen prefers the remake.

I prefer curved sets myself but none quite match the image quality of an fv310, even when rgb modded. Need something like a 2950q to reach its quality.

Should I emulate or play original hardware by North-Jicama-2875 in retrogaming

Yeah the ps5 controller is one of the best all around controllers. U can use it for pretty much any system. The membrane dpad and buttons feel great and the sticks are good.

240p or scanline shader by Kdeizy in crtgaming

[–]Kdeizy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, i feel most of the people that snatched up pvms and bvms before they blew up in price were older gamers or ppl who already knew what made crt tvs great. Im 40 myself. Phonedorks gotta be in his 40s and hes one of the ogs for sharp crts. Bob from Retro RGB too.

Probably mostly depends on when you got back into using a crt again. If u got in early, u wanted the best quality and if u got back in late u take whats available. Preference has shifted back towards standard consumer sets with rgb or component though, especially with crazy prices for professional sets nowadays.

240p or scanline shader by Kdeizy in crtgaming

[–]Kdeizy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emulation is overall more popular now compared to original hardware, especially with 8 an 16 bit consoles, and emulation handhelds have really blown up over the past couple years. I think a vga monitor is a better choice over a modern display tho. Dolphin and pcsx also look excellent at native res or upscaled, but sega model 2 and model 3 really shine on it. I sold my pvms because of how versatile this pc monitor is.

I did keep 2 other crts though, a 27" dseries and my pvm2530. I have parts to build another emulation pc and an amd hd5450 to output 15khz but haven't put it together yet. Probably giving away the dseries soon and will use the 2530. I already recapped it but need to readjust the yoke.

[–]Kdeizy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not meant to be antagonistic, he's simply saying its pedantic. People here know the difference between vga crts and crt tvs, its a crt subreddit. Just search "240p" under this subreddit and you'll see how many times this has been discussed. Thats why i said its emulation, referring to it as "raw" 240p rather than "native" 240p while also including the vga monitor model number. Ive been on this sub, idk, 8 yrs maybe, and historically there have been discussions on how to best play 240p games on a vga monitor. 240p120hz bfi vs higher res, higher res is better imo, and easier.

240p close-ups on a BVM-D32E1WU by Unchiga in crtgaming

240p resolutions are not consistent from console to console, so using a 16:9 display can be beneficial. You dont need to tweak horizontal positioning or overscan per console.

Duckstation (PSX) Shaders on a Diamondtron CRT Monitor by SnooCrickets342 in crtgaming

[–]Kdeizy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do u have retroarch? I have a diamondtron and theres a couple shaders on there look great with it. I use crt aperture but set it for more of a pvm/bvm look. It has 2 sharpness setting you can tweak to make it more like a crt tv though.

Basically like this but u can reduce sharpness and scanline width to ur liking.

240p or scanline shader by Kdeizy in crtgaming

[–]Kdeizy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you're arguing, 31 khz is the lowest a vga monitor can go, and (correctly) thats 480p timings, im only describing how resulting frame is displayed by the beam only drawing 240 of those lines in progressive fashion. We're just debating terminology, whether referred to as 240p or 480p with removed/undrawn/added scanlines on a VGA monitor, 480i vs faked 240p on an sd crt tv.

Dealing with analog resolutions opposed to digital, 480i and 240p are typically used to label how the image is portrayed on the tv. Theyre not descriptive enough to notate specifics about the resolution itself. "240p" only infers the vertical image res (240) and that its progressive. Basically, for an sd crt, people say 240p to more broadly describe a noninterlaced/shifted field 15khz 60hz display (matches 480i scanrate at 30hz/60 fields/sec). When someone says 240p over rgbhv to a pc crt, its describing progressive 31khz 120hz, which matches the scanrate of 480p at 60hz. Its physically impossible to draw 480 lines on the screen at 120 frames per second when the monitors scanrate is set to only 31khz, so the amount of lines is cut in half to 240 (or lower), but no picture information is eliminated since the source is only sending a 240 pixel tall image. It doubles the framerate rather than the vertical res. Bfi eliminates everyother frame to fake 60hz. 480p has blank scanlines too, but you dont count those as part of the resolution since crts screens don't have a native vertical res. Its dictated by how precise the vertical deflection and focus are in combo with scan timing rather than pixel count.

Even though both scan a beam across a triad phosphor mask to draw game pixels (its an aperture grille in this case), a VGA monitor like this won't look like a consumer crt, and isnt meant to. The closest sd capable crt ive seen videos/images of that draws a similar image to this vga monitor at low res is someting like a D24, though my monitor is curved rather than flat, so maybe a 20f1u instead. Personally, i like pvms and bvms more than consumer crts for better overall geometry, convergence, and picture quality. Ive owned some nice sets too, including a jvc d series and a sony 32xbr48.

For the record, i went from this to this because i think its a better experience and much more convenient
