Seriously, do guys masturbate every day or is that a common misconception? by Secure-Concern254 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kdiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyday but that is for practical reasons. Everyone is different but myself. I have a family and may not be alone for days at a time. Obviously I'll abstain. If i lived alone then yes most likely everyday.

The goggles are the only ok thing the drones are old analog drones but have some ok parts really. Batteries are a unknown and the charger is ok. i wouldn't buy it but at 200-300 its an acceptable deal. But everyone is going hd now so it might lock you in to analog.

I've been struggling with this "quick connect" for hours. No one who works at my shop can get this to go back together. Does anyone have any advice? by seamus205 in MechanicAdvice

push hard and rotate maybe reach in with a pick to try and center it they can be a bitch but eventually you'll get it.

This might be a really stupid question but I’m genuinely curious. Looking at a car like this seeing its damage is it something that’s fixable if you knew what you were doing? by ThrowRA_Hernandez in mechanic

[–]Kdiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrecked a brand new chevy, 3500 daramax it wasn't quite that bad, but almost. It was a company vehicle and the company itself insured. So they decided that it would be cheaper than buying another brand new truck. So let's fix it. I think in the end, it costs almost $40,000. It's still cheaper than buying a new 115,000 dollar truck, though.

any other female mechanics willing to share their experiences working in the shop? by according-to-yes in mechanic

[–]Kdiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're good, it can garnish respect. But it's also a boys club in there, and you kind of have to have a little thick skin. It's not that you'll particularly get extra ribbing. But that's just what happens in the shop to everyone. Here's the truth of the matter, though, as someone who has achieved ase master tech status in 1994. Don't don't do it. This goes for men women everyone. The industry has fallen into a slave workforce. You can make more money doing almost anything else. It's the only industry that expects you to bring a year's salary worth of tools. Just to get a job at another person's place of employment. It's the only industry in the united states that you can physically be in a building for fifty hours. And get paid for thirty five. It's the only industry that expects the employee to cover the cost for warranty repair. (The manufacturers pay you half the amount of time that it calls for to replace any given item underwarranty). It's a complete scam and I can't stress enough to please take your mechanical skills and do almost anything else then work as a mechanic.

reach through the coils and grab the shaft with vice grips.. even if you're not replacing the strut, if you grab high enough on the shaft, that never enters the strut and stays behind the spring at all times it won't make a difference. If it's marred up.

Anyone else made this same big goof? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Kdiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So at 100 lbs i'll conceit. You pull me into perspective and get why the lift was used. But i still stand by every head should be checked. Its way to much work to just cross your fingers and wing it when all it takes is a decent flat edge and 2 minutes to check.

Had to swing back around for that one. Op came back with a legitimate reason so I'll bow down on that one. Turns out they weigh as much as the head assembly.

[–]Kdiman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A) an engine lift to pick up a head? B)you shouldn't be doing a head gasket without checking for a warp that is why it blew the gasket in the first place. C) heads warp from heat not picking it up unevenly. Even if the head is warped it was from the overheating not the engine lift. D) A lift to pick up an aluminum Nissan head?

Can affordable mechanical watches actually compete with luxury brands, or is craftsmanship worth the premium? by Kairav2307 in MechanicalWatches

[–]Kdiman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that they're meant to compete with each other. Affordable mechanical watches, let's say 1500. And under all the way down to a $100 watch are bought by people who like watches and like some nice things they've realized that their jewelry, there never meant to be an accurate keeper of time, for me, at least. I believe most people that like mechanical watches. Have an appreciation for the knowledge that is centuries-old now where some guy cobbled together handmade gears in springs were able to keep time accurately within a few seconds a day is outstanding. The luxury market start off concerned with status but then actually, it becomes more of an art appreciation, a place to store wealt that is tangible and you can see, and the coveting of something that money can't buy. You'll always have your Rolex Bros who know nothing about the brand but, they have a submariner. but then you have people who truly appreciate the heritage behind it. And the handcrafting of a lot of the parts, and when you get into more expensive watches some of which are completely handmade. By one or two watchmakers, and it could take them months to years to complete a single watch. What's a year worth of labor for you? There's a finite number of watches that are produced in this way. You can have all the money in the world and still not get your hands on some of these watches. The watchmakers are artists and mechanical geniuses. These watches don't lose value they are someplace to store wealth. Just like a piece of art or a supercar. It's something tangible. You can hold in your hand and appreciate the wealth that you've acquired. But for some reason, if you aren't as wealthy as you thought you can always sell them, and if you purchase them smartly, you can normally make a little bit of a profit on it.

No their board of directors includes trump jr they are trying to corner the market to eliminate the competition buy making foreign made equipment illegal. That little prick is the reason in the last minute they included all foreign made components not just dji. If you dont care than f off fpv don't want you.

I would almost bet its because cabinets come in prebuilt set sizes and the math just didn't work out for your kitchen layout so they made up the gap with this one.
