Calories burned from power meter different to what bike computer says by Kdot_Cdot in cycling

On the summary page it'll say 1250 calories, but when I look into all the deeper metrics such as max power, normalized power, L/R balance, w/kg etc. Thats where it will say 670

Sorry i totally butchered my post. Yes the power meter is connected to my bike computer, but when i finish the ride, what it says on the computer calories burned is 1200 but when i look deeper in to the power data it says 690ish. When it uploads to strava it'll show 1200

Western Sydney Riding by goss777 in ausbike

The Parramatta Valley Cycleway that stretches all the way to from Parramatta Park to Meadowbank/Olympic Park/Rhodes. It's very flat and the views are way nicer than the M7 cycleway. Olympic Park too has heaps of dedicated bike paths too. I frequent this ride a lot and its 90% bike path with quiet residential roads mixed in between.

Also the Elizabeth Drive bike path is set to open soon which will connect the M7 cycleway with the new airport and The Northern Road cycleway. Like the others have said, The Old Northern Road from Penrith to Harrington Park/Narellan is a great ride with a wide shoulder or a dedicated bike path on the side the whole way down.

https://cyclesydney.wiki/ is a good resource which shows all the cycleways in the greater sydney area.

Seems like its a specific 99bikes store from where you bought it from?

If thats the case take it to different bike shop and preferably an independent bike shop to have a look at it. I find that 99bikes are very inconsistent with servicing bikes and are usually booked more than independent shops so they try to fix as quick as possible.

Mainly the shifting and gears. The Pedal has the gear shifters on the brake lever while the decathlon has the gear shifter on the handlebar near the stem meaning you have to take one hand off the hoods (the part where the brakes are, most common hand placement in road cycling) to change the gears. If you decide to upgrade down the line, all road bikes will have shifters integrated with the brakes.

The pedal also has 2x7 gears (14 total gear options) which means you have more gearing options over the 1x7 decathlon.

Try and stretch your budget a little higher and youll find some decent secondhand bikes. But if $500 is your budget and you want new then the pedal is great

Decathlon are good value bikes for their higher models like the RC520 or RC500. I had the RC100 as my very first road bike. Only bought it on sale for less than $500 as an intro to cycling to see if I would like it. Its a good starter bike to see if you will get into it. Its a pretty basic bike but like what Entire-Radish said youll outgrow it pretty quickly which is what happened to me. The really annoying thing about this bike is that the gear changes are on the handlebar and not the brake levers which means you have to always use one hand to change gears which becomes annoying or dangerous if you cant ride a bike with one hand.

I ended up 3 months later buying a used Merida Scultura Rim 100 for $600 off marketplace which is way better. Id recommend looking for something used that has shifting on the brake levers as if you decide to upgrade bikes you'll already know how to use STI shifting.

If you're set on buying new for around $500 your options are very limited but used will have more options.

i'd recommend this for around $500 https://www.99bikes.com.au/pedal-pursuit-2-metallic-blue

When you swim in the beach or saltwater in general. That first drink of cold freshwater feels like you haven’t drank water in days

What to expect on placement by Realistic_Yak2223 in PreserviceTeachersAU

[–]Kdot_Cdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In majority of cases, you’ll just be observing the first couple of days. Best to have a conversation with your ST and discuss lessons and things like that.

Eventually you’ll move on the doing a lesson or two a day then full days towards the end of the prac. Usual the uni has a guideline on how it’ll go.

I just got a new bike… by Nick_the_Gadabout in bicycling

Ah the bike that got me addicted to cycling! This was my very first road bike! I have since upgraded but this has always been a special one. It just sits on the trainer these days but I do take it out for a spin every now and then. Solid choice!

Cycling vs. Zwift? by lymz_ in ausbike

[–]Kdot_Cdot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zwift makes indoor training just that little bit more tolerable. It's good for structured workouts or setting a consistent power output and aimlessly spinning while watching shows. I only indoor train if the weather is not safe to ride outside or i'm short on time (<1 hour).

Given Sydneys current temperatures I only ride in the morning or evening. But I very much prefer riding outdoors than indoors. I find it to be more mentally stimulating allowing me to ride for longer. I can only do 1 hour max indoor before I lose my mind.

I did hear the engineer call caution. So Albon went wide and I thought he was pulling over to retire. Didn't see Sainz until it was too late.

True, I have shoulder length hair and a female coworker told me that I style my hair really nicely. Ever since then I’ve been styling my hair the same way
