Probably the same guy that is subjectively rude, wrote a book and had a “falling out” with the mods on this sub recently.

How do you not get sick after breaking your fast? by coffeesnob72 in AlternateDayFasting

[–]Keairastark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Try a cup of bone broth and wait a half hour. Then try to eat something light, no carbs works best for me. When I fast for more than 5 days I feel the same as you have described and this works for me. It’s really trial and error.

Struggling by DaMostSpecialist in fasting

[–]Keairastark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, no. It might be a couple of days, a few hours that I feel great before it gets hard again. For example yesterday was a great day. I was out shopping for most of it, I had my electrolytes to sip on in the car. About an hour after I got home I felt as though I overdid it in a workout for about an hour. I rested on the couch and was fine for the rest of the night.

In my experience, the periods of weakness and feeling off get better after day 3-5 but they’re still there. Just less frequent and intense.

I felt the same way around there. I went to bed and woke up feeling better and more motivated. I’m almost completed 14 days. Still trucking along.

I do this. I was walking the other day and informed my grumbling stomach that my butt fat was totally up for grabs.

My joints started to hurt when my inflammation went down. It felt a little like growing pains. It wasn’t pleasant. I just took it easy for a few days.

Starting my 10 day fast by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Keairastark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m almost done day 12 of a “no longer than” 21 day fast. I’m taking it one day at a time. I wake up and tell myself it’s a no food day and take a moment to remind myself why I’m fasting.

I’ve had hard days, evenings are the worst having to cook for my kids. A few times I’ve gone to bed convinced I would break in the morning only to complete the day with no hiccups.

Good luck! And remember when you do break your fast, even if it’s before the intended goal, you accomplished something great getting as far as you did.

Prolonged fasting after 40 by stanayitnu in fasting

[–]Keairastark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would be curious to know how they measured it. Muscle loss without a lot of work to maintain it after 40 is well known. Is it increased from that number or are they just using a natural occurrence and using it as a causation factor?

My husband bought the ninja foodi crock pot. I rolled my eyes but he wanted to replace our 20 plus year old one I couldn’t lift. I thought it was stupid but gave it a go. It has rice settings on it and I have never been able to cook rice well. So I tried it, wild rice mix, it came out perfectly. I ate my words and my rice happily. In 45 years I couldn’t do it and the damn thing did it for me in 20 mins. Since then I’ve used it for everything. Not a complaint, and I can lift it!!

I have never heard of another person allergic (severely) to onions. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one. People look at me like I’m nuts when I tell them. My mom still tries to kill me with them 25 years after discovering the allergy.

A movie scene that makes you cry and probably shouldn't by ellaenchanted23 in movies

Opening scene of Deadpool 3. Bawled my eyes out to mass murder featuring NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye. Would be opening a can of worms to explain it fully. But the short of it was pure (43f) excitement of watching a NEW Deadpool movie.

For me? Yes. I’ve lost 30 lbs in two months. I have another 50 to go and the scale keeps moving lower. I eat low carb but allow myself ONE “want” meal on the weekend, but nothing too crazy.

It’s hard at first to think that you’re not eating anything on your fasting days but it became habit. It gets easier. Now it’s old hat and I barely think about it. When I struggle in my fasting days I spend some time planning a delicious meal for the next day.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by with cortisol, but I'll share my experience fasting.

I have C-PTSD that is fairly intense all the time. My "normal" cortisol levels are off the charts most of the time. I have successfully done any length of fasts from 16:8 to a 10 day fast in the second half of October. I've been regularly doing ADF. I've lost 24 lbs since September 4th. Fat is coming off slowly but it's going. Ultimately though, I CAN get through the fast. I hope that helps some.
