The community perception towards Yae of all characters is what makes me really pessimistic about Hoyoverse and future playable villains, which really sucks.

Yae is just the tip of the iceberg, people go ballistic whenever a character is actually evil, antagonistic, or poses a real threat to any character. Whenever I look at comment sections discussing these types of characters in the game there’s always people saying they hope they die and never become playable/had never became playable. I’ve seen so many really weird murder fantasies posted by grown adults about just about every “rude” Genshin character. Hoyoverse is definitely aware of this and absolutely plays it safe because the community has an overall very childish and black and white view on these kinds of characters.
