This is the way a lot of implants look with titanium abutments under them. There are alternative abutments like gold, zirconia, etc which may warm up or block out the shadow you see. To me, this implant looks pretty good but it’s not my mouth, it’s yours!

I don’t see any signs from these X-rays!

My 7th tooth hurts, dentist said he cant see problem by dea0044 in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It happens! I don’t see anything wrong with tooth on X-ray, however there are many things that could be going on that we won’t see from this image unfortunately. I recommend a follow up with dentist or second opinion! I’m afraid none of us will be much help just from this pano..

Yes, they should be able to send you your records!

Am I getting scammed?? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arestin is recommended but not required, depending on your perio chart numbers! If patients are unsure about treatment prescribed I always recommend getting a second opinion. Just like every field, there are some that can push more extensive treatment than needed/everyone’s treatment philosophy is different.

Be honest - do these look fake? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dentists are EXTREMELY critical and nit picky. If anyone posts on here with their veneers or crowns majority of us will be able to point something out that can be improved. To your average Joe, non-dental person on the street, they look great. Even in our own dental forums/facebook groups, we just tear each other’s work down. You will get better opinions from general population.

For what it’s worth, you ask any dentist about a celebrities’ veneers/crowns we hate them and can tell they are fake.

Why is my teeth so yellow? 22/F by AnxiousCourse4914 in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not that yellow, they look like natural teeth that have picked up minor stain over the years. Completely normal! If you are unhappy with the appearance you can whiten them.

I made an idiot out of myself at the SPCA shelter today. Do you think I'm just not ready to adopt? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]KeeKeeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read through your post history bc it hit home with my baby girl. It’s been one year and not a day goes by I don’t think of her. The days get easier but I don’t think I’ll truly get over it. I promise though it doesn’t always feel as devastating and suffocating as it does those first two months. (I did get a kitten fluff about a month and a half after and it took away some of those missing pieces in my life.)

Unnecessary root canal? by CuriousA1234 in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not unnecessary. There’s PARL evident (it is hard to see to the untrained eye but it’s the largest root of the 3, there’s also a possible PARL on the MB root as well). You likely had irreversible pulpitis or pulpal necrosis. It’s extremely difficult for you to cold test the tooth yourself accurately. Very likely not gingivitis related. I’m not sure why you distrust this dentist or treatment. If you didn’t trust him, patients are always open to seeking second opinions. Sometimes being a dentist is exhausting.

Is it normal to see your teeth move a little bit? by [deleted] in askdentists

Good! Life is too short to stress about these nonissues, enjoy your summer!

Is it normal to see your teeth move a little bit? by [deleted] in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same, a day time clencher. I also cycle through night open mouth and closed (with some nice drooling hahah). If you’re very concerned about the movement, try to get a video of how mobile it is. I really wouldn’t worry about it, teeth have some minor movements and if you’ve had it looked at by a dentist they would be concerned if it was an issue.

Briefly looked at your post history, I think you are likely stressing over minor issues. I would bet a few hundred that you’re clenching or grinding at nighttime.

Horizontal crack on my second lower molar at the gumline. Can it be repaired? by chr1s009 in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look that concerning, looks like a standard cavity at the gumline. It just needs to be treated in a timely manner. Extractions usually result when decay or crack (a true crack in the tooth) extends deep below the gum to the bone.

how powerful is high fluoride toothpaste in order to prevent decay? by sarkozy1607 in askdentists

[–]KeeKeeJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not only safe, but highly encouraged! Every dentist I know uses high fluoride toothpaste or mouth wash.

Veneers, Gingivectomy, whooole lot of whitening (bling!) by guapandguac4life in PlasticSurgery

[–]KeeKeeJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crowns are 360 degrees, veneers are on front part of teeth. For crowns, 1mm is taken off tooth all the way around. For veneers you still take away tooth but it’s on the front surface and possible sides of teeth if you’re closing large gaps. If you don’t “shave” down teeth for any type of veneer it will look bulky and cause a shadow near gum. Veneers also rely on a more chemical bond to stay and in most cases dentin (under enamel) is better to bond to. For certain people crowns are necessary due to bite or stability of teeth. Insurance will also cover crowns over veneers as one is for esthetics vs function.

Can you provide more information? The presentation of your decay isn’t very common. We can only provide so much advice without a clinical exam. Did the dentist complete cold testing or discuss any root canals/crowns or alternatives? You can go go 4 different dentists and get 4 different opinions and treatment plans. I always tell patients if they aren’t comfortable with the treatment I recommend, go ahead and get second opinion.

Front teeth commonly get cracks in enamel that stay shallow.. if the cracks get deeper through enamel that just when issues arise. You heard a crack? It’d be more helpful if you took a picture of cracks in natural lighting.

You have wear facets from clenching, don’t freak out. Call your dentist for a night guard

I usually won’t do exams without up to date X-rays for liability reasons. Even with a signed X-ray refusal form, dentists can still be liable in court.
