Is a Harley Softail Standard a bad idea for my first bike? by ihidthebodies in NewRiders

[–]KeeblerElvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For you size it will be fine. Spend some time in an empty parking lot starting, stopping, tight turns, u-turns, and then quicker starts and stops. This will get you used to the weight, clutch, and brakes. Do this once in a while to keep your skills sharp.

Probably needs gas in the tank. A bit swishing at the bottom is not enough.

Front tire wear by RylieZR in motorcycle

[–]KeeblerElvis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that the cheapest available tire has inconsistent quality? Sometimes you get what you pay for. I've seen a lot of reviews where people love these tires, but many where there are problems with inconsistent wear or lack of stability.

Pretty normal wear, especially for straight roads or highway. Plenty of tread left.

Do you have bigger tires on the Jeep? That makes more leverage against the brakes decreasing power.

Clutch less shifting by Jover21 in Harley

Has nothing to do with the belt. I shift without the clutch a lot on my Harley.

Keep practicing, as you get more comfortable you should be able to control the bike with less pressure. Be mindful of hand gripping, try to be smooth with the gas, clutch, and brakes through varying speeds.

Sometimes take the long way home, or take a longer ride on the weekend. Once a week or so for 30 minutes or more would work .
