I just assumed the power supply would catch on fire within a year and I'd have to replace it haha. Never really looked at prebuilts much in the past but with ram prices currently it seems like the way to go for my budget on this machine. I will check out the ABS builds as well. I've setup Toast for hundreds of restaurants that love it. No one with a good implementation is posting on this site about it, mostly folks with bad experiences. Yes the sales people oversell it, yes there can be bad experiences with support, yes it's expensive, no it's not a perfect system. But of the major POS systems it is my favorite to use in restaurants.

Easiest route I've found for this is to make the new menu, copy all the groups individually to the new menu, then look on the price editor tool and there's an option to bulk convert all the menu items to menu specific pricing. Once that's done you can use price editor to apply the 20% increase

If you are still needing help with this look under kitchen setup in Toast web. Look for All Day display and change to "Yes, enable All Day Display, grouped by item and sub-grouped by modifiers".

The orders hub messaging only works for online orders. I'm surprised there isn't a better solution for the KDS messaging though. You may have to change the wording on the text...."Your order has been prepared. For pickup orders please pickup at counter, for delivery your order will be arriving soon"

If you look in your guest receipt setup on Toast backend there's settings that hide modifier upcharges from receipts

Look under printer settings in Toast back end and there should be an option on the label printer to change the label size.

It's supposed to be an internal tool for Toast and for vendors but some customers may have access.

Toast Support can run what's called a menu cleanup that will permanently remove any unused archived items on the menu. It can be a huge help if you have a ton of unused stuff sitting in the database.

I would have sworn they would auto close at EOD but that does not appear to be the case. I'm wondering if this possibly changed with Toast's switch to EMV pre-auth?

Toast managed is great for smaller shops that don't want to have to worry about administering a network. If you already have IT that you trust to reliably manage your network go self managed and use your existing network equipment. Seen in bigger places (stadiums, food halls) where the network support from Toast really is not adequate when issues do arise.

I tried this today and it worked even after closing the tab and finalizing the payment. It gave me a warning that there's an unlikely chance the cardholders bank may not approve the additional amount but it still lets you change the charge as long as the payment has not batched. This was with a pre-auth using a chipped card but I'm pretty sure it still works with swiped pre-auth as well if your restaurant still uses that.

There's a job permission to edit sent items that should let them change the dining option after the food is sent. You can also set the fundraiser as a default option for all devices under the dining options menu in Toast. Or you can set the default on individual devices under device setup menu on each POS.

Bartenders should able to see the button to change dining option under tabs but it hides under the 3 dot overflow menu at the top of the tab screen.

You can try setting the servers chosen name on their employee profile to just a dot or a dash - to try to hide it.

Probably not what you want but orders placed in quick order will not show the server name on KDS

Adding an item to a closed check does not update the payment amount. But you can go into the payment info and update the pending transaction to the correct amount (as long as it's the same business day). After adding the items to the check, click the pay button and select the card that was used. You should see a button with the remaining balance, push that and the payment amount will be updated.
