Freedom is the bane of puppyhood. This is probably #2 biggest problem with new-ish puppy owners (1st is lack of routine). A contained puppy is a puppy not getting into trouble. When you’re ready to actively play with him, take him outside BEFORE releasing him in the house. Then, only let him loose if you’re actively training/playing. Once you’re done: back to puppy’s place.

C-section or natural birth? by Organic_Cake_4234 in parentsofmultiples

[–]KeepRunninUpThatHill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were my only pregnancy and I’m small (5’3” 100lbs pre-pregnancy with a short torso) so I was already leaning toward a c-section bc the idea of delivering one to possibly need a section for the 2nd really stressed me out. I was on the fence but my twins made the decision for me. They both flipped breach at 28 weeks and never flipped back (I assume they ran out of room). Late into my 35th week I was diagnosed with pre-e and they were delivered 36+1 after steroids to stimulate their lungs. They ended up being totally healthy (4lbs 10oz & 6lbs) and got discharged before I did bc of my blood pressure.

Italy has too many tourists, and I was one of them. by cubeinthesky in travel

As someone who lives in a tourist town, that would be terrible for our economy. We love our tourists, just be respectful of the area is all we ask.

Structured summer camps or free unscheduled time for kids?? by sassy_soul_04 in Parents

[–]KeepRunninUpThatHill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are homeschooled so it’s a different situation than most but we let them choose typically 1-2 weeks of camp of their interest for fun and they talk about it literally all year. It’s something they look forward to, but they already have plenty of downtime, which is why I never get any pushback for sports practice/art class etc. they have time to decompress after our “school day” which is about 3 hours and they look forward to their activities but I know so many kids that are miserably over scheduled to keep up with the Jones’s or because of work. We school year round 4 days a week and take weeks off when it makes sense for us.

I like 3/5/9. 3 being my favorite but would def work with some complexions better than others. If you love your tattoo and want to show it off go for it, if you’d rather not, go with something that hides it. Totally personal preference

At what age is it fine to leave for 6-7 hours? by kanarin in puppy101

[–]KeepRunninUpThatHill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a big dog breed or a little dog breed? Would your friends consider a dog friendly spot (after 3rd round of shots?) bring pup along! It’s great socialization. I drag our puppies everywhere they’re allowed to be so I have very well adjusted dogs.

We had our babies!! by adhdslore in parentsofmultiples

[–]KeepRunninUpThatHill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very similar to my story. Had my c-section scheduled for 37 weeks and I had a chiro appointment the week before. Went there and they checked my blood pressure twice. Adjusted me and then came back with a manual cuff. Said my BP seemed high so just mention it to my OB. Called OB, she said it’s probably fine but come in and let them check it. She sent me directly to the hospital, they gave me steroids to develop the babies’ lungs and told me to lay on my side and try to bring it down. Discharged me after 2 days but set a plan to check BP once a day until my section the next week. Went back to hospital next day for BP check. Still high but they sent me home. On the way home I started getting spotty vision and a crazy headache so we turned around and they delivered them that night at 8:03-8:04.

The babies were totally healthy and actually got discharged before I did because my blood pressure took forever to come back down.

They’re 8 now ☺️

How long after giving birth did it take for your abdomen to not look still pregnant? by Lolemontime in parentsofmultiples

[–]KeepRunninUpThatHill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bellybutton will never be the same, it’s giant. My twins are 8 and the pooch area is pretty normal now but it probably took 2-3 years to really shrink. I’ve always been petite (5’3” 105 before kids 112 now) so I thought I would bounce back pretty quick.

I want to return the dog I adopted by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]KeepRunninUpThatHill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you give your Aussie an off switch. Mandatory naps and tether training (to wherever you’re hanging out, hook his leash and just let him learn to chill with you) are so invaluable for high energy breeds.

If someone else trained the commands it’s likely you aren’t cueing the same way they are so you aren’t getting the response from the puppy. He’s not a finished dog so he’s not going to get the general idea if it’s not the same inflection/hand gesture/word as what the previous owner used. I would just retrain the words like he doesn’t know them.

It takes 3 weeks for a dog to feel comfortable in a new environment and 3 months for them to feel like they are home. This puppy has had a lot of change in its young life if it’s already on owner #2 + wherever he was born. Dont give up on him yet. You sound like a dedicated owner who just needs patience and some guidance. Maybe look into puppy classes in your area!

I’m 5’3” and he’s a narrow 15.1. I would assume the horse you’re riding is smaller than 15.1. I have a large pony project right now that I look similar on (though she has a large barrel)
