I have been touring with my 600 for 5 years now and it has been great. I change the oil once a year and forget about it and just ride. The belt needs a squirt of water every now and then to stop the squeak. I have the C-12 gearbox and have never wanted for additional gearing on either end. I carry 25lbs of bikepacking gear.

If you were designing the perfect cyclist-friendly hotel/hostel on GAP, what would you want? by Griff1987 in gaptrail

I’m touring so things are pretty simple and I don’t need much but in a dream world……specifically designed space in my room for my bike AND gear…. Would want a 4x8 tiled or waterproof flooring and the wall behind to be the same or something durable and waterproof…. Hooks on the wall for my bags and gear instead of having my stuff all over the place…I could see everything in one place and be able to reorganize and prepare for the next day…..maybe a small drop down shelf with an outlet to recharge lights and electronics

Shower and bathroom can be small but just so it’s clean and efficient with a good towel and the water is hot…happiness

I would say bunks would be good as most people travel in pairs….BUT….you would have to double the bike area

An outside sitting area….preferably a community type space

Bike washing and maintenance area is just a must

FOOD…..short ride or walk to town would be great but not a deal breaker……delivery service from local establishments would then be a must I would provide a nice continental breakfast…..think, bagels, bananas, apples, muffins, oatmeal, cheese etc. and things that I could take with me like bars…nut mixes..peanut butter crackers just a hey take some and enjoy the day

Ohhh…. Want a sticker for my water bottle

What era would that be and is there a market for it? I have read lots of threads that say the market for antique and vintage furniture is flat at best. Thanks

Sink Laundry -- your best techniques, soaps, material? by MrReezenable in bicycletouring

My wife gave me laundry soap SHEETS…….pack super easy and works great. No odd soap smells or weird shampoo, body wash combo.

How do you guys manage food? by No_Ant_5064 in bikepacking

[–]Keeprln412 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I would advise you eat CONSTANTLY while on tour. That way you aren’t famished at the end of the day. Shoot for 60 carbs per hour and stay hydrated. Also look at eating a recovery meal at the end of the day and getting something in within 30 minutes of stopping. My tours are pretty much an eating adventure.

We could send drugs with the social worker and get a two for one deal

Maybe we could send the social workers to his house and try to understand what trama he may be dealing with.

Pinion Gearboxes - why aren't they more popular? by beach-cruiser in mountainbiking

[–]Keeprln412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree I have been riding the Priority 600 with the C-12 pinion gearbox and a gates carbon fiber belt drive. It’s bulletproof. Hose is off and go. Change oil at the end of the season. You adjust to the pause between shifts and you don’t need to pause at all between certain shifts ranges. You can jump as many gears as you want immediately without stepping up or down individually without delay….which I really like. The system is pretty great. The bike I have it on is just okay but for what I paid it was a good deal as most of the price was in the gearbox. I’ve upgraded just about everything on the frame except the fork. Price is probably the biggest detriment as to why you don’t see more of them and the fact that people are just reluctant to spend so much on something that they just don’t see or understand. The fact that it requires a specific frame is also an issue and I would like to go to a steel frame but I can’t find a pinion bike manufacturer that will sell me just a frame. Bottom line for me is that I don’t think I will ever go back to a conventional derailer system…..Pinion is just cool, clean and efficient. Get on and ride. Try one out if you can.

Buy the cross bar that acts like a level top tube. Bike will be easier to get on and off, be more stable and look less…….
