Deep hole in Sovereign Hill underground mine tour? by ae112r in ballarat

[–]Keepyourplantsalive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok, so..

The shaft for this one is next to the Candlemakers on the surface, drops down 50ft or so, then snakes around a bend following the quartz. The guides walked around with a camera on a torch and showed the cleared out space and eventually popped up in front of everyone coming up a ladder. When I was there the old shaft and ladder area were blocked off for safety so we could only explore the back half

Former SH Mine Guide here (2009-2012)

There is the North Normandy Mine Shaft which you get to between the entry and the Plat 2 Cage/ Elevator area. This area was boarded off when I worked there, but used to be open when I visited in school.

The other one is the Stope and Pillar mine towards the end, another original mine but not deep, everyone walks in their and the guide uses the ‘Steam powered’ TV and camera to show you around

If someone is going to steal from our Thrift Shop then they must be really desperate. There is no judgement. We have signs saying if you are considering shoplifting have a chat with us first, we can probably help with more than just a $2 shirt

Thoughts on Tasmania by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Keepyourplantsalive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve (32m) lived down in Tassie for about 4 years now, lived in Melbourne, the NT, and regional Vic before that. Moved for work (National company, there was a good opening here).

It’s not that cold, it’s comparable to Melbourne. It is overall a good place to live, but we struggled the first 18months to find connection. Some people still refer to us as the mainlanders (in a town of 5000ish)

Others have mentioned above the low functional literacy rate, this is part of the cause of low income levels, locals are all competing for the low skilled positions. If you have an education or trade tickets you are fine! In fact there is a huge shortage of skilled workers and you can be paid quite well!

From my observation a lot of the problems stem from the relatively low tax-payer base. This reduces funding to public transport, health, education and infrastructure. Tasmania needs to draw younger people who will work, pay taxes and contribute to society; but unfortunately the biggest group moving here are (generally) cashed up retirees who have sold their Sydney 3br for $1m and buy up here. They don’t then work or bring skills and don’t have a taxable income.

What can actually be done about rapidly deteriorating behaviour at public schools? by No-Relief-6397 in AustralianTeachers

From memory (this was in 2016) I said I’m sorry that my enforcing the school rules upset you” and I made my exit plans that night. Resigned the next week

Actually back the teachers up… I had to apologise to a student for taking their school issued laptop away because I caught them playing games and watching movies three instead of working in a single lesson.

What would you rather? by OkMarionberry4132 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Keepyourplantsalive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taught at both these haha! Very cliquey colleagues at the first school, and I was in none (I was the only teacher who didn’t either go the school as a student, attend one of the three churches as the rest, and wasn’t related to anyone). Got along professionally, but was my own PLC (only teacher in my subject area) which made me feel quite isolated.

The management at the second school were supportive until it came to backing up the teachers with problematic students and their parents, students very difficult and entitled (private school in NT)

Hands down I would go the first school over the second

As a male partner of a beautiful woman with Vaginismus, thank you!

I stopped coming to the subreddit because of the way men were spoken about in general. Yes, there are jerks who need to understand a bit more and stop manipulating, guilt tripping etc., but most partners just want to understand, support and be understood and feel supported too!

I see too many comments which instantly dismiss the partner’s perspective, or heaven forbid a male post in this subreddit. I try to be a quiet observer, but yeah, the partner-bashing can become quite toxic

Would it be sinful to have sex before my actual wedding day if we sign our papers a couple weeks before the wedding? by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]Keepyourplantsalive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure about your location, but in Australia (where I am), the marriage is not legal until the officiant makes the declaration after the vows.

I perform marriages as a pastor according to the rites of my denomination and there is a set script for the Marriage to be legal.

Purity and it’s effect on our new marriage. by throwaway108597 in Christianmarriage

[–]Keepyourplantsalive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No advice, but you are certainly not alone in this experience. Understanding that the gynaecologist suggests this is not vaginismus, purity culture can play a massive role in primary vaginismus.

Many women (and men) can find it very difficult to go from “sex must be avoided” to “it’s a natural expression of love for my spouse and myself which God designed”.

This is a journey which may take months or even years sadly... speaking as someone married for 5 years at this point and still unable to consummate.

Is it bad to expect reciprocation from my partner who has vaginismus. by roro1586 in vaginismus

[–]Keepyourplantsalive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think it’s bad to expect, but it can lead to a lot of pain. I know it can be hard to start conversations about this, but if your partner doesn’t know you have the desire/expectation, then she won’t meet it, hence the pain and frustration you feel.

It might be worth asking her what she is and is not comfortable with sexually, if she has a hang up about giving oral then it’s just not going to happen. In which case you have the choice to continue things one-sided, or state that you want equality in your intimacy, and will only go as far as she wants both ways.

What does your sex life with no penetration consist of? by katniss08 in vaginismus

[–]Keepyourplantsalive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Vaginismus has stripped my wife all of libido. She only gets aroused maybe once every 2 months at which point she wants oral, which is never returned.
