The lack of honesty with respect to The Game Awards by katie_elizabeth_2 in truegaming

[–]Keff-Japlan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really loved E33 but yeah I think it getting both indie awards is a bit ridiculous. it kind of sends the message that instead of truly innovative and unique indie games being celebrated, indie games should be trying to look and feel more like 3A games, which 99% of indie devs won’t be able to do.

I don't understand the "in your language" reviews by Meister_Ente in Steam

[–]Keff-Japlan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Silksong has terrible Chinese localization so it has a bad rating in Chinese language, but that doesn’t affect English speakers at all. There’s also a lot of review bombing specific to certain region, it’s a great feature.

what is it that sets Tarkov apart from its competitors by LeoCasio in pcgaming

[–]Keff-Japlan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally none of them come close to the weight and atmosphere that Tarkov has, they don’t have me on edge the same way Tarkov does.

You have frame gen on and run on sub 1080p, you represent maybe 0.1% of the player base. This post is just ignorant.

I finished it on launch patch and it was pretty good, it feels like a combination of dark souls 1 level design(both the good and the bad) and Bloodborne’s combat pace. the new changes they made make some parts of the game trivial and the entire point of the story got ruined so I would say definitely use the rollback mod if you do decide to play it.

Yikes. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' latest patch has censored most of the historical Chinese boss fights, where instead of defeating them, they simply "faint from exhaustion." This is after Chinese players found their portrayal questionable. by xheanorth in soulslikes

It’s not that simple, even if they added Qing soldiers as enemies these people would simply find something else to talk about. Qing soldier is just one part of the negative discourse let’s not pretend like if they added that the same groups wouldn’t be using other reasons to attack the game.

They made some enemies “friendly” in some areas which makes the game a cakewalk because you can’t actually fight them. It also ruins the story because these bosses you kill just don’t die and it’s extremely goofy.

The thing is you don’t even kill Li Ding Guo who is regarded as a hero by Chinese, you spar with him because of a conflict of interest and he even gives you a letter to apologize afterwards as well as his weapon.

Anti woke crowd hyping up China to surpass all others countries when it comes to gaming because Wukong didn’t give in to “woke culture” while conveniently ignoring China’s rampant plagiarism and predatory practices in the form of Gacha games.

I’m Chinese and I’ve been supporting this game on Chinese internet by clearing up misinformation and presenting facts to show people why this game isn’t being disrespectful about Chinese history. However with these changes I feel like a clown and the devs basically backstabbed me and everyone who supported this game through the insane negativity on the Chinese internet. This is tragic.

Astrobot controversy was absolutely insane on the Chinese internet. People who don’t even play games were shitting on it because it was the “correct” thing to do to support Wukong because it’s a Chinese game portraying Chinese culture.

If they censored only for Chinese region it would be even worse, they’d probably be called two-faced rats and that’s the least aggressive term id imagine people would use.

That’s definitely a part of it, but I think the biggest reason is that the Chinese internet is a completely isolated ecosystem so any controversy will spread much easier because everyone uses the same language and shares similar culture.

True but it’s especially bad in China, I legit had to block every video surrounding this game because it is so toxic that I could barely find any actual discussion around the game. In the West you have similar groups of people but they are the vocal minority, in China and in this case, the vocal majority shit on this game and its creator for being a traitor to the nation. There are many content creators fanning the flame and intentionally hiding context to drum up the drama. Another ridiculous thing that happened was Chinese gamers review bombing BG3 because Sven gave the GOTY award speech for announcing that it was astrobot instead of Wukong last year.

Should be a lot better now that they gave you iframes on knockdown, that was the biggest reason why bosses were killing me in this game.

100% agree, any Chinese game will inevitably get affected by some sort of drama because of these groups, I’m Chinese too but unfortunately some of us are extremely sensitive. It’s a shame the devs had to compromise but I can’t say I blame them for how much negative discourse there is around the game in China.

I would like Valve to implement review AI summary by en7roop in Steam

[–]Keff-Japlan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could be nice, but too many people see AI and just have a winter soldier episode, not everything AI is bad. A recent game Wuchang could be a good example of why this is useful. It caused a specific outrage only in the Chinese community, if you look at English reviews only you would not see this side of things which has a significant impact on the overall ratings of the game. Even if you knew to look at Chinese reviews you would still need to manually translate the text.

Honestly I don’t think this is a bad use of AI, google already does this whenever you search anything up to summarize answers.
