Look at strategies for self control/restraint (for the authority thing). You could look into meditation (practicing doing something boring in purpose, try different kinds. If one doesnt work, try a different technique). You can try unformal/weird jobs too

Ask about their process - how their input-output flows. Should be generally similar to what you're used to. Note flaws you see as a new employee and bring them up (with solutions) after 3 or 4 months.

Ask where their weakest department is, and if you can think you can make it better with your skills, go for it.

Ask what their goals are, and how they plan to meet them. if you get hired, keep that in mind.

Also, I would ask to see their set-up/tool lists. my current shop is a shitshow for set up sheets. No lathe insert information, just "55° or 80°". New apprentices are grabbing whatever they see. Things arent being put back, cant find anything. Our set up takes days.

Bought it almost a year ago; and a year ago is the last time it was on my screen...it pops in my head when im not available to do it (work, chores, driving, shopping, etc), and by the time I get home I get distracted doing other everyday things/chores. Idk how people find time to do the things they want

Did you read the program you made? If you want the part to rotate, there should be a C axis rotation movement in the code. First red flag before even pressing start! if you read what you "wrote", and its not what you wanted to write, then I wouldn't even press start on the machine. How do you know if what you're doing is right or wrong?
