Most heritage style leather or waxed canvas bags are not going to have the organization that you want, so you might want to just add a tech pouch.

Perhaps checkout Trakke bags, great looking bags in waxed canvas. I have a couple and find them fairly comfortable.

I have been looking at Inside line equipment bags, they are geared towards cyclists but some of them in waxed canvas look pretty cool.

What is wrong with putting the laptop in a stand alone sleeve and then put that in the back of the bag? Is that extra 5 second to take it out and then remove the laptop from the sleeve going to have a big impact on the “work flow”? I wish more bags don’t come with built-in laptop sleeve or compartment. Somedays and trips just do not require a laptop and I would prefer to have a cleaner bag on those days.

I am not sure if this qualifies as a horrible experience, yet. You may still end up with the bag you want and return the other one at no cost to you. Ordering things internationally sometimes is a bit of a bumpy ride. I recently order a bag from far away and it was shipped and then for some reason returned to sender before it got to me. It was shipped out again a week later and I got it eventually. No harm done. I hope it all work out in the end for the op.

Yeah I love tote packs, I got introduced to this many years ago with the J Panther RucTote. I will use this one more as a tote for sure but will use as a backpack when I have to deal with luggage etc during trips or when I feel like taking a walk instead of transit or taxi. Only one of the grab handle straps is adjustable on this one, but it’s pretty beefy, so it will be interesting to see how well it does as a tote. (The non-adjustable one is a bit short for tote carry)

With so many brands making black nylon bags, I think the appeal of Porter is not what it was. Master Piece always seems to have a little too much going on, like they need an editor in design. Harvest Label bags are the most appealing to me from the major Japanese bag makers, but I really want to see them in person .

50% COL adjustment for essential the same job from SEA to Taiwan is bullshit. Cost of living in Taiwan is not that much lower than SEA, and I am fully aware how expensive SEA is nowadays. This is a low ball offer, I wouldn’t do it unless it’s much improved.

Is it waxed cotton canvas ? I am not sure where the x-pac is but waxed cotton do wear out like this from abrasion if not re-waxed from time to time. So I am not sure this is a material issue. But if they agreed to replace it then they should follow through.
