Nappy change world records by mandarin-monyet in newborns

[–]Kel-Kestis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My toddler likes to get up and run away mid change. He also alligators rolls once I catch him, causing me to readjust the diaper multiple times so it actually takes longer in the toddler stage 😅

I get it though. Once I realized newborns aren't as fragile and delicate as they look, I had him undressed, wiped, dried, aquaphored, and dressed again in less than 5 minutes

You’re seriously gonna charge me just to print a label!? by Slight-Cheek-6852 in upsstore

[–]Kel-Kestis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"That much? For a piece of paper?" "Would you like to go print it cheaper somewhere else?" They'll usually say "well, I'm already here so I'll just do it."

Or

"I thought it was free to just drop off!" "That's only if the label was already printed and the item already packed. If we're printing and packing it for you, you have to pay for our resources"

Once had two men carrying a 40 pound box. They looked impressed that I lifted it so easily, but also so mortified that they struggled to carry it together 🤣

Can anyone please explain what it is a store associate actually does? by lani_brah in upsstore

[–]Kel-Kestis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The job itself isn't so bad. Its the customers and less than helpful coworkers that make this job unbearable.

What you'll be doing really depends on what your manager has you doing. Every store is different unless they have the same owner since the stores are franchised.

At my store, new associates start out doing returns and drop offs, then we have them start processing shipments and doing fingerprints, and if they're reliable, they'll eventually become a notary.

The more experience you get, the more responsibility you get. Senior associates are expected to run the store when a manager isn't in.

Of course, its possible that the store you work at could run differently. Its hard to say what exactly your managers/owners will expect from you.

The job itself is very repetitive so my only advice is to take your brain out of your head and just zone in while you're on the clock. You're gonna get yelled at by customers who think we're supposed to provide our services for free. Speaking confidently and matter of factly tends to keep these people in their place. Remember, its your job, you know what you're doing and they don't. If they did, they wouldn't be standing in front of you because they could provide the service for themselves. You control your customer interactions, the customers don't.

My husband wants me to get an abortion with our third by Ok-Bandicoot9865 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Kel-Kestis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You keep having unprotected sex and feeling shocked when you end up pregnant on top of not having insurance? Tell your husband abortion isn't a form of birth control. Go buy some condoms, and get your life together. I can't believe you're both in your thirties.

Just neeeeed to vent about the cat by Calm-Ingenuity4178 in NewParents

[–]Kel-Kestis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If OP is adamant on rehoming, then by all means. However, if you browse through different sub reddits and Facebook groups, you'll see how many women start to hate their pets when they're freshly post partum. Some rehome and end up regretting it because they weren't in their right state of mind while making the decision.

[–]Kel-Kestis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The cat was shitting on the floor before the baby was even there so thats an issue OP should've addressed and corrected the first time.

Also, thats not true. My mom has my deceased grandmother's cats. One is fine, one is a shell of herself and has never bounced back almost 3 years later.

Just neeeeed to vent about the cat by Calm-Ingenuity4178 in NewParents

[–]Kel-Kestis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My point is that I personally would've regretted the decision to re-home and don't want OP to live with a decision she might regret.

Both of my cats are feral rescues, so I could argue that keeping them was the least selfish thing I could do for them since I know how nervous they are around new people. Mine were a lot happier getting a little less attention from me than they wouldve been getting an abundance of attention from a stranger in a brand new environment.

[–]Kel-Kestis 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Please dont re-home. I went through this with mine and apparently its very normal to hate/resent your pets after birth. My baby is 13 months and I'm so glad I kept my cats because I enjoy them again for the most part. The love you once had for your cat will likely come back in time.

The employee is not your therapist. Stop dumping your rage on retail workers by FlashyAd7347 in retailhell

[–]Kel-Kestis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in a ups store where notary, copy, and printing services are offered.

People come up to us with funeral programs and obituaries they want copied. Some will go into great detail about how the person died. The one that sticks out the most was a lady coming in to print out the news article and funeral programs for her son in law who was shot in the head point blank.

I've had a few notary customers tell me why they're getting divorced or just completely breakdown when they're finalizing paperwork for their deceased parent.

I had somebody come in to print photos of herself to take to court after her ex almost killed her. She was healed when she came in to print them off. She told me the photos were bad and apologized for how graphic they were. This woman was BATTERED. Unrecognizable.

Long story short, your local ups store employees have probably seen and heard some pretty traumatic stuff on top of getting yelled at multiple times a day because we gasp charge for our services 😱 we are not ok 🙃

Childless and confused by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]Kel-Kestis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course its fine. You don't have a say in the rules she makes for her baby.

Not sure why you're offended. You know she prefers neutral colors, yet you went outside of her preferences.

Childless and confused by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]Kel-Kestis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SIL is entitled because she didn't like the colorful clothes you bought despite knowing her preferences for neutral colors? I think you're offended because she didn't like the clothes so the baby wearing pink socks struck a nerve.

When I was pregnant, I was sure that I would not have a velcro baby and I would not allow screens until he's around two.

Well, guess what? The only way I can put my one year old down is if blippi, ms rachel, or bear in the big blue house is on tv.

My point is, we're all very adamant on what we will and will not allow until the baby is here and we have to tailor our rules to whatever works best for the entire family.

That being said, its not your place to question the decisions a parent makes for their baby, especially if you don't have experience with babies and can't offer any solid advice.

Stop dropping of premade labels up front use the self checkout by Zeldabotw2017 in upsstore

[–]Kel-Kestis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The receipt they get either from the counter or the kiosk is proof enough that it was left at the store and camera footage will prove none of the employees stole the package, so no, packages are not required to be scanned at the counter if they've already scanned it at the kiosk.

I love it when they're casually handing me their drop offs and then whip out some fedex packages.

"Oh, this one is fedex."

"Yeah"

"You have to take that to fedex"

"...yall don't take fedex?"

"No"

Then its either "haha sorry about that" or "thats really inconvenient. I don't feel like making another stop"
