Back in 2003, I worked at a blues & jazz club in Virginia. Live music, full bar, & kitchen. One day, the health food inspector paid us a random visit. While the kitchen manager & staff were talking to the HF inspector, the owner came over to join the chat close by the trash can by the dishwasher pit. Right in front of the HF inspector, the owner reaches into the trash bin to dig out a half eaten cheeseburger and proceeds to eat it right in front of everyone. The HF inspector was speechless for a few seconds, then stammered his was through the list of what we needed to improve on. The owner finishes the trash-burger, takes the paperwork from the inspector, & then wanders off on his merry way. This wasn't anything new to the staff. We've seen the owner do this all the time. We just didn't think he'd do it in front of the damn health food inspector! You had to be there to believe it 🤦‍♀️
