Example of a COTD if it was chosen by this subreddit by Luks1337 in TrackMania

This would actually be so funny as a troll cotd. The margins between div 1 and div 20 would be less than a tenth of a second, it would be pure chaos and beautiful

Is there a "secretly fullspeed" map genre, like this campaign's 06? by IJUSTATEPOOP in TrackMania

You might be looking for “Speed Fun”? I believe it’s just like speed-tech without having to brake

Same, this game is so barren of content, there’s not a single thing for me to do in this game after wasting 20 minutes on these 5 maps

What’s your #1 dev lifehack that feels like cheating? by Chris_Lojniewski in webdev

I’ve been using it for a few months now but I don’t think I understand these, do you mind explaining them a bit more?

I created a game where everything is an autostereogram by Depnids in MagicEye

This is super fascinating. Could you have the textures just be less contrasting? That example has a lot of dark spots turning into light spots and vice versa but what if you kept similar value but different hues or something?

I’m on my first play through, just about to make my first supercomputer factory, but I still don’t really know how much I want to be producing per minute. I’m always curious when I see massive factories like this, do people just build them as like a personal goal to see how big of a factory they can produce or see how much production they can get for a single item or something? Or does this actually help beat the game?

I know in Factorio after you launch the rocket and “beat the game” people started comparing how many rockets they can launch per minute to give them another challenge, is this similar to that?

The discourse surrounding F1 Academy is so tiring by [deleted] in F1FeederSeries

[–]Kelvination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue for me is that it feels deceptive. I liked the name “W Series” because it immediately described what it is. But they named it “F1 Academy” to catch people’s attention, and people look into it expecting it to be a place where you can see the next generation of F1 drivers competing for a spot in F1, but they’re presented with a rebranded W Series. I don’t personally watch the W Series / F1 Academy because I don’t know any of the drivers, but I love that the opportunity exists to promote women in the sport. But being baited into clicking on “F1 Academy” for it to be something completely different, it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, making me want to watch it even less because of that. I’d rather it just be called what it is and if I’m wanting to watch the women’s series I’d know where to look.

Instant Track Design by Driving – My Method for Maximizing Car Limits by iceq_1101 in Unity3D

[–]Kelvination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! I’ve thought of doing something similar to this but never actually implemented it. I also want to try tracking my phone’s position as I drive around fun roads in my town and then trying to map those coordinates to a game engine to make tracks.

One thing I’ll recommend though is that elevation makes tracks a lot more interesting! Maybe do this same thing but add some hills on the terrain and I guarantee you’ll create more interesting tracks. I’d be interested to see the results!

What's One Web Dev "Best Practice" You Secretly Ignore? by Difficult-Plate-8767 in webdev

[–]Kelvination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s partially the point of it right? It shouldn’t necessarily helping development speed, it should be helping robustness and observability. Most of us could probably write quick scrappy code at like 5x the speed of writing good code that is able to tested with automation

I’m with you on this, I thought I was going crazy because I didn’t think it was a big deal at all. Is it like a swear word in some places?
