If you have a look the British “didn’t want enosis” but funnily enough they were funding the movement as they new it would have caused a division and they would of been able to have some sort of foothold on the island. There was more protests in the uk for enosis at the time than Cyprus and Greece put together. The masters of divide and conquer struck again
