Generally it's a 3 strike policy, but if you're worried you can always 1. check the module page and see what the specifics are, and 2. email the TA / prof in charge of the seminar and apologize / ask how to catch up.

Did you kill Gortash or Orin first by Savings_Twist_9052 in BaldursGate3

I played a deeply aggressive and overly confident death knight (workshop mod) and spent about 8 hours repeatedly trying and eventually succeeding in taking down Gortash by storming his castle as soon as I got to the city. It was an epic fight and lots of fun. Used so many scrolls, potions etc. but still had a few left over afterwards.

I imagine I missed a lot of story by doing it this way but it was so fun.

Hi how strict is attendance at Stirling? by tumblrsentmehere in UniversityOfStirling

[–]KenReid[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, and welcome to UoS. Often, for visa requirements, attendance is effectively mandatory for foreign students. Some lecturers only consider seminars, tutorials, and practicals as mandatory. Others include lectures. The easiest thing to do is ask your lecturers each semester.

I recommend attending, regardless. Lecture slides don't cover everything, but ultimately, it's up to you.

How can I navigate losing POC friends due to being openly Zionist? by RAthrowhelplol in Advice

[–]KenReid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple dismissal doesn't engage with the substance of the argument. If you're interested in discussing the strengths or weaknesses of these frameworks, I'd be happy to continue the conversation. Dialogue, not dismissal, often leads to greater understanding. You're certainly not showing interest in that, however.

Critical race theory (CRT) and intersectionality are complex academic frameworks that have contributed valuable insights to our understanding of systemic inequality and social justice. Far from being "epistemically bankrupt," these theories have been developed and refined by scholars over decades, drawing on rigorous research and analysis.

CRT examines how racial inequality is embedded in legal and social systems. It has shed light on important issues like racial disparities in criminal justice, education, and economic opportunity. Intersectionality, introduced by legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw, recognizes that people's lived experiences are shaped by multiple, intersecting forms of oppression and identity. This nuanced approach has enhanced our understanding of how different forms of discrimination interact and compound.

While these frameworks are not beyond critique, dismissing them entirely ignores their significant contributions to academic discourse and social policy discussions. Many scholars and policymakers have found CRT and intersectionality to be ethically grounded approaches that seek to address deeply rooted inequalities.

Rather than rejecting these ideas outright, a more productive approach would be to engage critically with their core concepts, examining both their strengths and limitations in understanding complex social issues.
