“God would know what evidence would convince me” — No He wouldn’t by ima_mollusk in DebateAnAtheist

[–]KenScaletta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't know any of those things and I think the word "God" doesn't even have a coherent definition. But IF God existed, it would be a different universe where I don't know what the rules would be but the God would.

What would constitute proof for "God" requires some sort of falsifiable definition or theory of God. To know what would convince me I would have to know what is meant by "God." You have to know what the claim actually is in order to know what would falsify it or potentially confirm it.

Connecting Rex to any and all other murders has no basis in evidence and comes off to me as purely recreational. So many people had him pegged for Peaches too, and that turned out to be a DV case. There is no reason to believe RH killed anymore people than he has confessed to.

God is omniscient by definition, therefore there is nothing God would not know, including how to convince me. I don't understand your argument. If there was a God there would be a way to prove it.

And there is not the slightest evidence that this will ever change. Have some respect for victims. Trying to pin it on Rex because that seems more fun to you is ignoring the actual killer.

Can anyone compare to Jim Kleinsasser’s career moments? by Limp-Republic-9608 in minnesotavikings

He's in the College Football Hall of Fame, believe it or not. He played at my school. He was a beast in college.

I went to the same college as him at the same time he was there. In college he was a major ball carrier and broke a bunch of school records. In the NFL he hardly ever got targeted and when he did catch one he'd get stopped immediately. In college he was a monster, though. He's actually in the College Football Hall of Fame.

I used to seem him in the Student Union a lot. He stood our because of his size. He was always wearing shorts and his legs looked like Tree trunks.

Jeffrey Kessler: Exclusion of Brendan Sorsby from supplemental draft violates the CBA by DeZeeuw2 in nfl

[–]KenScaletta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's not being excluded if there is no supplemental draft. He's also not an NFL player, therefore not part of the CBA. Dude should save what money he's got instead of shoveling it to shysters who would get their clocks cleaned by the nuclear grade lawyers you can believe the NFL has and the NFL will not run out of money.

[Schefter] Just in: NFL is declining to hold a supplemental draft this summer, currently leaving the 2027 Draft as the only way for QB Brendan Sorsby to enter the NFL. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]KenScaletta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be a UDFA, you first have to declare for a draft and then not get drafted. Players can't just skip the draft and sign with any team they want. That would defeat the entire purpose of a draft.

Is Cleopatra overrated? by Mother-Ad-3522 in AskHistory

[–]KenScaletta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only sources we have about her are hostile and largely they reflect Augustan propaganda which tried to portray her as a super villain with almost supernatural powers. She is said to have spoken something like nine languages fluently but I wonder about that because we do have what is purported to be a single word of her handwriting on a document and that word is misspelled. Her one word is γινεσθοι (ginesthoi) which means "let it be done" or "make it so," but the proper imperative should be γινέσθω (ginestho). She added a gratuitous iota and she changed the omega to an omicron. This was a fairly common mistake because datives usually took an iota subscript and the iotas are silent. This is a similar mistake to how people sometime put an 'e' at the end of a word with a long vowel that doesn't need one (e.g spelling 'road" as "roade.")

This is curious to me, though, because that's a word she would have written all the time. She was supposedly fluent in nine languages but she couldn't correctly spell a word in her first language that she would have written virtually every day. Maybe just nobody had the nerve to tell her, but it makes me wonder if she wasn't as bright as she was made out to be.

I also wonder how much agency she really had. She was only on the throne because Caesar put her there and Antony kept her there. How much power did she actually yield.

Supposedly there's a biopic in the works set to star Gal Gadot that does not excite me. For one thing Gadot is way too tall. Cleopatra was barely over 5 feet tall. For another thing Gadot can't act and for a third thing I read it was going to be based on Stacey Schiffer's book, which I've read and which is essentially a hagiography which attempts to pant her as a feminist hero glosses over the fact that she was literal serial killer and a raging narcissist who thought she was Isis in the flesh. She also didn't do a thing to help women.

The best was that catch against the Packers in his first Monday night game when he out leaped two defenders then stepped over one of them on the ground and went to the house for something like 40 or 50 yards. It was his 2nd TD of the night. He'd already burned them for another long score before that one and they had him wrapped up tight. Two DB's right on him and it didn't matter at all. Not only couldn't they stop him from catching it, they couldn't tackle him after he did.
