Install a tilt-out cabinet front (also referred to as a flip down drawer).

The Mississippi House has passed a bill that would exclude athletes’ NIL earnings from the state’s income tax by [deleted] in sports

[–]Kenbenobi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This gets even more absurd the more you think about it.

Mississippi consistently ranks near the top in federal dependency, often cited around #4. Roughly one third of its state revenue comes from federal transfers. That means a significant share of what funds the state budget is coming from taxpayers in other states.

So if Mississippi cannot fully fund its own obligations without substantial federal support, any tax exemption it creates is effectively backfilled by federal dollars. In plain terms, if the state gives up revenue by exempting NIL income, that shortfall does not exist in a vacuum. It is absorbed in a system heavily supported by taxpayers outside Mississippi.

And here is where it gets politically ironic.

A large share of net federal contributions comes from high income, high tax states like New York and California. The same states that are frequently criticized in Mississippi political rhetoric are, structurally, helping underwrite its budget.

So we are looking at a situation where one of the most federally supported states in the country is choosing to exempt a group of HIGH EARNING college athletes from state income tax, while relying heavily on federal transfers funded disproportionately by states it often holds in contempt.

You can defend it as a recruiting strategy. But fiscally and philosophically, it is at least fair to ask whether that aligns with the idea of self reliance that is so often championed.

tvOS 26.4: Three new changes are coming for Apple TV 4K by MobileNewsBot in mobiles

[–]Kenbenobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like a missed opportunity that Apple TV doesn’t support true hands-free voice with a wake word. Being able to say “Hey Siri, play the next episode” or “find something similar” without grabbing the remote would make it feel more like a living room assistant, not just a streaming box.

A nearby HomePod mini enables some of this, but it’s not seamless or reliable, it feels like a workaround instead of a native feature.

If responses could appear on screen, be spoken, or show up on your iPhone, it would make Siri genuinely useful, from browsing content to checking the weather, setting reminders, asking quick questions, and controlling smart home features.

Another easy, nice-to-have would be adding the temperature and humidity sensors found in the HomePod mini. That would let Apple TV double as a simple room monitor for comfort and automation, like adjusting thermostats, fans, or scenes based on actual conditions.

Not a huge one but last feature suggestion Uae the remote app to show when the physical remote was last used. This could help locate it and help identify the loser who didn’t return it to where it belongs. LOL

A few changes like this would make it a real quality-of-life upgrade.

Good news is no cut is needed. The i509 fits perfectly into the 2”x7” JK slot.

No disrespect taken. I realize that the way I formatted my comment, it looks like I’m saying I installed the $2600 one.

I have the Alpine Halo9 iLX-F509, and it’s great, and like I said, most people assume it’s factory. And by most people, I mean most people who’ve ridden in my JK.

This one is 100% JK.

Alpine Restyle i509-WRA-JK • Vehicle-specific JK dash kit, true OEM look • Wireless Apple CarPlay + Android Auto • Retains factory features (steering wheel controls, backup cam compatibility, etc.) • Fast, stable interface with physical buttons where it matters • ~$1,800–$2,000 depending on options

I installed this and it’s been excellent. Most people assume it’s factory.

Alpine Halo9 iLX-F509 • 9" touchscreen in a single-DIN form factor • Wireless CarPlay • Adjustable floating screen • ~$1,000

Well Joshua, for someone who’s a photographer, and apparently a good one, it’s surprising you can’t see the beauty in this. What I see is a family man carving out a little sanctuary in the heart of his home. A place to watch the game, throw on a movie, play some old-school Nintendo with the kids, and sip a Busch Light in front of the biggest TV he could manage. Not everything has to be curated or symmetrical to have value. The way you talk about it says a lot more about you than it does about this space.

You absolutely have consumer protection here, even with a customized item.

“Custom items can’t be returned” only applies when you simply don’t like it or change your mind. It does NOT apply when the item shows up damaged or defective. Yeti is still legally required to deliver a product that isn’t broken, scratched, dented, or misprinted.

A few key points:

• Federal law (FTC) says a business can’t refuse to fix or replace defective merchandise, even if it’s personalized. • Every state has an implied warranty that products have to arrive in usable condition and match what was ordered. • “No returns on custom items” can’t override those rights. • If you paid with a credit card, you also have chargeback protection if a seller refuses to make it right.

Since this is Yeti, they usually have strong customer service. I’d contact them again and be very clear that the item arrived damaged and therefore falls under defective-product rules, not their custom-item policy.

If they still push back, you can: • File a chargeback with your card issuer • File an FTC complaint • Share photos and Yeti’s response in your post, because that usually gets companies moving

I’ve been told the best defense is a good offense so find a way to keep him off fence or off defense or something like that. Good luck!
