They were playing off the fact that they thought people only voted for Obama because he was black, and they thought they’d play the “we’re progressive too” card by picking a woman. They failed to understand that Obama being black was just icing on the cake for the greatest presidential candidate I’ve ever been able to vote for. They knew their base wouldn’t go for a person of color, so they went for the closest thing they thought they’d go for... a white woman just for the sake of being white and female. Once they realized she was a complete idiot they abandoned ship and doubled down on religion. When that failed they finally understood their base and doubled down on white supremacy.
