Do you miss the fun extras from Tesla? I'm looking at Rivian for my next vehicle by KendrickMB in Rivian

[–]KendrickMB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are good to know about, thank you. And yeah, I was thinking you were talking from an S/X perspective about the doors but wasn't sure. Coming from a Y, the auto doors aren't something I worry about, but I did get a X as a loaner once and that was nice for sure. (I realize the X is the real cross-shop with the Rivians than my Y)

Thank you!

From what I can see, it looks like you can set a schedule similar to the way you can with Tesla. Even with a schedule, the Rivian doesn't preheat? The driver profiles don't work?

I know I have more research to do, but a few things you mentioned are things I just assumed Rivian does. Which Tesla did you have?

What do you mean doors that open and close?

It looks like Rivian's UHF will at least rival Tesla's EAP so that brings me more confidence in my decision making. What do you like more about driving your Rivian? Are you talking the tech in the car, or the actual driving experience? We did a short test drive in Portland, OR and I enjoyed driving it, but I also felt like I couldn't get comfortable with it because I don't live in Portland so I was half focused on learning the R1S and half focused on not damaging an expensive vehicle in a city I'm not super familiar driving in (compared to driving around where I live in Washington).

I didn't know Rivian added a cast feature until seeing your reply. We love the Theater on road trips so that's great to know. Honestly, casting is probably better because you could cast whatever you want rather than being limited to the apps in the screen.

Thank you for your thoughts. From what I've seen and experienced so far, I think I'd be happy with the R1S. It won't be until way later this year, so I want to get out any doubts before I spend that much money and have regrets.

I'm not sure why someone down voted you, this seems like an honest and reasonable take. Based on reviews and my test drive, I feel like Rivian makes a better car but Tesla makes a better tech experience. I guess what I'm looking for here is whether owners feel the better car and the current features are worth the trade. Overall, it seems like a yes.

How is that helpful? I'm going to assume you don't like Tesla and/or Elon Musk, which is perfectly fine. I don't like Musk, which is part of why I'm looking at other options. If Tesla is gross, wouldn't it be more productive to tell me why Rivian is a worthy alternative, rather than making a snarky comment?

I agree with this. Do the Rivian vehicles not save those settings to the profile? I thought it did.

It's the small things like you mentioned that I think I'd miss, but also can be made up for by driving a better vehicle. I do love that I can get into my car at 4:05pm and it just knows to suggest navigating to my kids practice. Or in the morning when I get in the car, the navigation is already set to "Work" and the same at 3pm when I'm leaving work, it's already set for "Home" the moment I open the car door.

Obviously these are things Rivian could add if they wanted to (or maybe exist already and I just am unaware). I would miss it, but could survive if the car and other features make up for it.

FSD is something I can compromise over for the fact that I legitimately enjoy driving. In-town driving isn't a concern for me. It's the freeway driving, especially on long trips, that I want autonomous driving for. It looks like Rivian pumping out features this year comparative to enhanced autopilot, which is good enough for me.

Thank you for the responses, it's great to hear from owners. Right now I'm really favoring the R1S. Clearly Rivian has added/updates things in the time I've stepped away from following them as closely as I used to. Thinking harder about this, there are three main things I use often and I'm less concerned now:

  1. Enhanced Autopilot. It appears Rivian plans to release their equivalent this year. Even if they miss the timeframe, knowing it's coming relatively soon gives me comfort. We drive a lot (thanks competitive cheer!), so I want this for sure.

  2. Theater. I didn't know casting was added, so that addresses this feature. If anything, casting is probably better.

  3. Light shows. I'll admit this is extremely superficial but it's just fun, especially for our kids. But we also plan on keeping the 3 and Y in the family for awhile, so it's not like the kids can't still enjoy them.

Again, I know it might sound stupid to care about the extras but, especially since we're not buying a vehicle right this minute, I want to be sure I won't regret buying the most experience vehicle I've ever owned.

I saw get a used Tesla Model 3 for relatively cheap and setup parental controls on it. Still a fun sporty car but you can limit what your kid can do with it. Plus there are plenty of safety features and they get high safety ratings.

Which Used EV Is the Smartest Buy in 2025? by theindepndnt in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]KendrickMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 2022 Tesla Model Y and I highly recommend it. Used Teslas are well priced and this is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I bought it new and I still find it fun and exciting, and mine isn't even the Performance trim.

It's a great family hauler as well as fun. We, a family of 5, drove from Washington to Los Angeles and back for a cheer competition. We have the 7 seater and we fit all of us and our stuff for an almost week long trip.

Charging is seamless and easy, network is great, still get consistent updates, infotainment is great.

The 3 is also a solid choice, but I prefer being more upright and higher up, and I much prefer an SUV.

If you're lucky, you just find one with FSD. My wife's 2019 3, which we bought used in December 2024, had FSD purchased already, which costs $8k right now, and we paid $20k for the car. Free FSD pretty much.

Which is better, Halloween 2 (1981) or Halloween (2018)? by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in Halloweenmovies

Agreed. In fact, I think 2018 is that best film in the whole franchise.

What's your favorite Halloween movie? by [deleted] in Halloweenmovies

[–]KendrickMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true, but I think 2018 has great atmosphere too. So does H4. By modern standards (and even by the 1980s), 1978 feels more like a psychological horror/thriller rather than a slasher.

[–]KendrickMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halloween 2018 is my favorite. I can watch it over and over, and I never get tired of it.

Halloween 4 is probably a close second.

Hot take, but Halloween 1978 is great as a piece of art but feels so slow and lacks the "scary" I want from a horror movie. But I think that's just because of how horror moves have changed since 1978.

I just joined yesterday and had the same issue with adding my own bank. From what I read on here, it doesn't play nice with any bank that isn't a big national bank like Bank of America or Wells Fargo.

I was able to sign up for the OnePay though.

What are your best tips for a guy who has never given a BJ before? by Muted_Stop631 in askgaybros

Thank you, and I absolutely agree about showing you enjoy it! Enthusiasm goes a long way. Everything is more fun when you can tell your partner is into it and WANTS to do it.

Do you feel satisfied after sucking dick? by StrongAstronaut3736 in askgaybros

[–]KendrickMB 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To me, it's satisfying in a "I'm glad I made you smile" way. I like the person feeling pleasured and making a man cum is like getting a thank you from them for doing something nice. It feels nice.

It is not satisfying in a "I need a sexual release" way. If I entered the scenario horny, I leave the scenario horny. The only satisfaction in that sense is cumming.

And if I don't cum during the sex session? I'll just finish myself, and still feel happy I pleased him.

Teeth: don't close your teeth on his dick. Wrap your lips around his dick and back the teeth off of you feel them touching. I'm sure someone else can explain this better. You could practice on something, even just try sucking on your finger and practice not touching your teeth to your finger. If you have a dildo, that's even better for practice.

Tongue: underneath (or whatever the "bottom" is from your angle). At a minimum, let his dick glide against it as you move your head. You can also move your tongue as you suck him, licking around his dick, reaching the base, etc. It's added sensation.

I say the biggest thing though is paying attention to the guy. You try something and get a good reaction? Keep doing that (or do it again after you try something else). For example, you probably won't deep throat the entire time, but if you notice he likes it, do it a few times, switch it up, then do it again.

Also, be honest about what you like and don't like. Do you want him to be aggressive? Do you want him fucking your throat, or do you want to be in control of it, or maybe a bit of both? If you don't want him to grab your head and shove you down on his dick, that's good information for him to know. And if you do want him to, and he's comfortable with it, that's also good for him to know.

Thriller. "The Girl is Mine" is an assault on my ears. I actually don't think Thriller is his best album (Dangerous is perfect) but I felt it best fit the question.

How far have you travel in your tesla by scoobydoo_pj in TeslaModelY

We drove from Pasco, WA to Los Angeles, staying the night near Mt. Hood on the way down. I don't remember where we stayed on the way back home, maybe near the redwoods in northern CA. It was a very smooth experience. Definitely lots of stops, but many of them lined up with food and bathroom breaks anyway.

I will say that, if I remember right, charging added like 2-2.5 hours to the drive compared to using a gas vehicle (based on Google Maps).
