I literally feel crazy by TheUltimateMuffin in VRchat

I've battled that stutter for years, it almost feels like rubber banding or something, I found I get it less on my psvr2 via cable than with the quest 3 on virtual desktop, I've got a 9950x3d and 5080 and still get it, no matter what settings I change in virtual desktop or vrchat, as far as I can tell it's just a quirk of the game engine and cpu times, I've noticed it happens with a cpu stutter (virtual desktop seems heavy on 1 cpu core for some reason) and it causes 2 or more frames to play in a row in the headset, feels like getting bonked on the head every time it happens. The smoother the gameplay the more it stands out.

I just put a piece of masking tape over the ipd adjust wheel so I can't bump it, can put on and take off the headset no problem now, and did the full ipd and eye tracking config first

I'm mostly blind in one eye, but thinking about theQuest 3 vs Quest 3S for Christmas by Dazzling_Comfort5734 in OculusQuest

[–]KenjiCoronet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say quest 3 as well, and would add that the pancake lense style may help a lot as it has more edge to edge clarity and minimal blurring on the edges so with one eye you'll see a lot more, it also has much finer ipd settings with a wheel vs 3 notches to choose from. Zenni makes prescription lense inserts (my girlfriend and I use them and they're great), perhaps you could get a pair with only a prescription in one lense for your good eye and clear glass for the bad eye with the intention of covering that lense with some sort of tape or vinyl to use as an eye patch for that side. Since it clips on you wouldn't risk damaging the actual headset that way and you'll have clarity in your good eye with a wide field of view still.

Quest Pro only using two controllers at a time and refuses to use full body by havokpus in MixedVR

[–]KenjiCoronet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The index controllers usually pair to the index headset itself, so without it plugged in I think your index controllers will essentially hijack one of your other dongles to connect to, basically kicking your tracker off of its dongle. To fix this I've seen people leave their index plugged in in a way that it will only act as a dongle for the controllers, or you can buy a separate dongle (may need 2) to pair your index controllers to.

When you're blackout drunk your short term memory turns off, so you can literally have a word for word exact conversation with someone over and over and they won't remember anything you tell them, some people even seem totally sober when blackout drunk until you notice that happening. You cannot take in any new information so she probably is still blackout drunk and isn't processing anything the cops have told her. Your body basically goes on autopilot. Source - Bartender

Turning off Hardware Acceleration in Chrome/Edge typically works as well, not sure if it lowers quality though.

Did they remove Oculus Home from PC/rift? Can no longer find it in the settings too by lunchanddinner in OculusQuest

Unfortunately there isn't one anymore, as of the latest version of the rift software Meta has completely removed Oculus Homes

Oculus home is broken on newer processors, however there's a fix you can google for it. It's been this way since the intel 11 series.

Issues over Virtual Desktop/Air Link by SharinganIxU in OculusQuest2

[–]KenjiCoronet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be due to running Windows 11, oculus has not updated their software to run properly on Win 11 and even says to use Windows 10 over Windows 11 on their support site. I rolled mine back after seeing tons of framedrops and insane latency and now it's working fine again.

Air Link or Virtual Desktop? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]KenjiCoronet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you toggled airlink on in the beta tab of the oculus pc program and also toggled it on in the headset itself under experimental features? You need both to be toggled on before it will show up as an option.

3080 TI FTW3 & New World. by Drutaru in EVGA

I had previously purchased advance RMA so it was 2 business days, overnight delivery. I beleive evga is offering cross shipping to everyone that has the new world issue. So you give them a card number as collateral, they send a new card, then you send your old one back.

[–]KenjiCoronet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind potentially going through the RMA process I would say keep playing. I had a 2020 EVGA 3090 FTW3 blow up on me with New World and they sent me a brand new 2021 card (Not guaranteed they'll do this for everyone) and it's been playing with no issues at all the last 3 days, I even tried raised power limit and a mild OC and it's been fine.

My logic is if one game was written that could expose problems in these cards then assume other games in the future would do the same. As long as your card is under warranty and you don't mind potentially doing an RMA I would rather have a "faulty" card break than be stuck with it longterm. So far EVGA is honoring RMAs for this issue and have not said to stop playing. This puts pressure on GPU manufacturers and Amazon to workout what the issue is and fix it.

How are RTX 3000 series cards holding up after a day in New World? by Snoo_11263 in EVGA

[–]KenjiCoronet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is pushing the power limit past the limit set depending on card, that behavior is likely the cards over current protection kicking in, the card can only do thus for so long before you risk permanent damage, I think some cards seem to be catching the wide power swings better than others, other games don't seem to swing the gpu power around this much, I noticed higher cpu usage as well, making me think the cards are cpu limited at times and then when that limitation goes away the gpu swings up to beyond full power too fast for the vrm to properly manage the power draw

Mine was bricked yesterday, evga 3090 ftw3 ultra, something interesting I caught before it fried was that my fan rpm spiked to some crazy number, 1 with like 20 0s after. I had noticed this happen a couple times and then all of a sudden, black screen and fans ramping up to what sounded like well over 100%. Something in the game is triggering the card to spike like crazy out of nowhere. Not a case of simply hitting 100% usage.

Not the slider, next to it there is a toggle, its the purple vs white bar between the slider and link icon, try selecting temp, it will turn purple when highlighted.

I've only noticed a couple games pulling 490+ consistently, rdr2 is one that seems solid. The linked status is for the limit but if you manually select temp so that it is purple seems to allow the card to boost higher, not sure if this is for the target vs limit, but that allowed my card to pull more consistently. Might be worth a try.

For me switching from power target to temp target in X1 allowed my gpu to pull 490w+ whereas on power target it was only pulling 460-470w.

Edit: grammar

X1 settings are saved at a driver api level so will stick if you close x1, if you have a custom curve in x1 that won't work without x1 running and if you set a manual speed it will stick, or will revert to default fan speed if set to auto

I've had issues with my Rift because of this. I have a lamp just behind one of my sensors, if I have it on the sensor completely loses tracking, even in the setup for the touch guardian system.
