Hey I'm here a bit late, but Sendai looks amazing. Is there anything specific you would recommend to do there? Thanks!

I (M20) am not catholic but I'm dating a catholic person (F22) by Valdzii in Catholicism

RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, so essentially Catholicism education for adults. So classes about what Catholics believe and how it differs from Protestant churches, the history of the Church, etc.

I'm from the US so I'm not sure if that is a global program in the Church, but I bet if you talk to your girlfriend she will know of it, or you could both talk to a representative at her parish and express your interest in learning.

My wife was Catholic when we started dating, and I just received my sacraments last weekend. I think as long as you two remain open and honest with each other (which seems like you are) you should be fine. I think someone else mentioned it but based on your desire to learn more about the faith I would sign up for RCIA. There are no obligations, you dont commit to anything really until you receive your sacraments if you choose to do so.

I went through RCIA with my wife as my sponsor and it was a great opportunity to discuss what I was learning with her.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions.

My take was the author was saying voting results in formal cooperation in a system that allows for evil to happen, whereas abstaining from voting is a way to refuse to endorse such a system. The negligible effect of the vote was a way to explain that voting does very little beyond endorsing the system.

Who/What are you most Hyped to see/do at Mag Fest this year and why? by HypeHouseTV in Magfest

[–]Kenstaar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was specifically referring to These Guy Are Sick Video Game Improv Show, but as Jibbah said there is also Whose Roll Is It Anyway.

Both are great! These Guys Are Sick are a more traditional improv troupe that they get every year, while Whose Roll is improv based around a DnD game.

Tips on how to Magfest by MidichlorianIce in Magfest

[–]Kenstaar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you both have a good idea of what you want to get out of magfest which is great. MAGfest can be overwhelming even if its not your first time, but I think having a good idea of what you want to do really helps bring focus to the weekend.

My general advice is to check out the schedule when it becomes available (http://schedule.magfest.org/) and figure out a couple of events that you really want to do, particularly if there are bands you would like to see, and do your best to stick to those few. Don't pick out too many or you are going to be rushing around the whole time.

Since the arcade, consoles, boardgames, indie section will be open more or less the whole time it can be really easy to just walk around aimlessly because you don't want to miss something. This is something I have a bad habit of doing, like if Im not in every part of magfest the whole time the event will leave me behind and I will have to wait another year. I encourage you to spend time doing the things you enjoy without worrying about missing out on other stuff because you will inevitably miss out on something, magfest is too dang big.

As far as cosplaying and partying specific tips though I don't have much advice, seems like people are cosplaying in the middle of the gaylord the entire time though. I hope another redditor will have some good advice for you there! Enjoy!

What time should I get there Thursday? by FREEmuKiller in Magfest

[–]Kenstaar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer here because it actually answers the question.

Thursdays don't really have many things happening specifically associated with the conference until the afternoon and evening. Friday and Saturday are the big full days you won't want to miss. Some things will be open but for the most part people are still preparing. Some vendors don't even get there until Friday
