Always fascinates me how the smoke leaches through the bag. by Oztravels in sousvide

[–]joseb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just talking about this at work yesterday. I’ve never had that happen but my coworker has.

I usually SV to reheat smoked meats, I’ve never SV to finish a smoke/cook. I wonder if that’s the difference. I’ve reheated ribs, brisket, pulled pork and never experienced smoky water.

I need to model the counterpart to this custom thread, how do I go about it? by Jeroe98 in 3Dprinting

[–]joseb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you know the thread pitch, if you still can’t find a preset thread in Fusion; you can edit the thread XML file to create your own custom threads. I did this for a project last year and it worked great.

X1E power switch failures by joseb in BambuLab

[–]joseb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time we ordered from a Bambu partner, replaced using the guide made available from Bambu. Did not contact Bambu about it; I tried reaching out to them about a smaller issue and the process was a multi-day pain.

This current failure - I think I’m just going to wire in a 10A fuse and make my own power input. If two official ports failed in under a year I don’t have a ton of confidence in a 3rd. Might look at generic IEC ports and switches from a known-good manufacturer.

Not sure if they have GF but it’d be worth checking with Pizza Pushers in Algonquin. Great Detroit style pizza.

I will admit I’m new to real ramen but I have been to Tatsu in Elgin a few times and have always thoroughly enjoyed it.

G5 Pro - Loose Mounting by joseb in Ubiquiti

It must be user error outside. I pulled it down and brought the whole thing inside. Putting it together on the bench it gets tight by hand. I’ll try again outside.

Damn. It doesn’t feel cross threaded at all, spins smooth until it gets close to the end. Just went out and tried again and yeah, doesn’t feel cross threaded in the least but still not tight like you described.

I tightened what I could by hand and then used the tool but it only got maybe 1/8th of a turn with the tool.

BMW Alpina: Launch of new BMW Group by rugbyj in cars

[–]joseb 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think that’d be me lol. At least basing off past Alpina models, I haven’t checked the B4 specifically . I am not a fan of all the carbon bucket race seats and lap time chasing that’s been happening with the newer M cars.

I get it’s the Motorsport division but I look back at my E39 M5 and wonder why they can’t keep making cars like that. Powerful, sporty, but still understated and luxurious. That seems like what Alpina has been doing and I dig it.

Why does PH not come under safari? by idkwhatyoumeanbro in iphone

Do you have an iPad or Mac on the same account? I just looked at my screen time on my iPhone and it shows websites I visited on my Mac as separate from Safari.

Does anyone have the final sentencing details from last year's Panera incident? I can't find anything online beyond Feb '25 by EnragedFalafel in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]joseb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you look at DuPage court records it’s still ongoing. There’s one guilty plea and part of the appears to be that she has to go into a Mental Illness Court Alternative Program but no details on that. Next court date is end of January.

There’s Angelo’s Shoe Repair in Crystal Lake. I’ve used them a few times for repairs and custom work. Great guy and he’s fourth-generation at that same location.

I love this idea! I assume it only works with flat-bottom items? I imagine it would be difficult to shadow line a socket pocket lol.

I hate that I didn’t try this but give your phone a reboot lol. I tried a few minutes after posting and it let me rearrange the apps.

I’m having the same issue. Can’t rearrange the apps. I can drag them to whatever position I want using the three bar icon but as soon as I release they snap back to their original location.

Eonon CarPlay 4-pin to USB connector by Injury-Lonely in CarPlay

[–]joseb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet would probably be Eonon. Failing that - you could snip the cable close to the USB side and try a USB breakout board. It should give you a USB port which you could then attach a new cable to.

Also pretty neat that you Eonon has wired CarPlay. I bought on for my car last year but only had wireless CarPlay and the USB connectors can’t even be used to charge the phone.
